The History, Development, And Continual Evolution Of The Percussion Theatre Genre, Steven L. Wimberley Apr 2026

The History, Development, And Continual Evolution Of The Percussion Theatre Genre, Steven L. Wimberley

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

During the twentieth century, artists in every discipline sought to create new, original art that would both challenge societal norms and expand their respective art to new extremes. This expansion in contemporary music saw the emergence of electronics, chance elements, “found sounds,” speaking, acting, and physical gestures. As we continue through the twentieth century, we also see the onset of the percussionist as an independent musical artist and a desire for original music for percussion. The intersection of these new developments created what is known as percussion theatre.

Percussion theatre can be broadly defined as a genre of musical composition …

Extremal Connectivity In Graphs And Matroids, Yiwei Ge Apr 2026

Extremal Connectivity In Graphs And Matroids, Yiwei Ge

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Connectivity is a central theme in both graph theory and matroid theory. This dissertation investigates extremal connectivity in graphs and matroids, with emphasis on unavoidable structures and minimal connectivity phenomena.

Chapter 2 introduces cycle-contraction minors of graphs and investigates their structural properties. We establish a connection between cc-minors and induced subgraphs via graph duality. The main result gives an unavoidable-families characterization for cc-minors of sufficiently large loopless $2$-connected graphs.

Chapter 3 studies super-minimally $3$-connected graphs, namely $3$-connected graphs that have no proper $3$-connected subgraphs. We establish extremal bounds on structural parameters of these graphs, including the minimum number of degree-$3$ …

Organizing To Engage: A Framework For Conflict Strategy, Paul Mason Carpenter Apr 2026

Organizing To Engage: A Framework For Conflict Strategy, Paul Mason Carpenter

Dissertations

Conflict strategy can be exceedingly complex. While many of the basics are simple, even the simple can be highly complicated to execute. The Schlieffen Plan in World War I appeared straight forward, but execution was a great deal more complex. It failed and the result was years of trench warfare.  In addition, leaders entering conflict may not fully appreciate the full context, its effect, and the need for a long term result--a better state of peace.

Strategy and tactics may be challenging to transform as an engagement evolves. In addition, strategists must often commit to courses of action within very …

It further explores how the location and type of co-investors influence investment characteristics, investor monitoring, and exit outcomes, shedding light on how traditional and impact investors interact and shape investment outcomes. The second essay examines the role of SWFs in impact investing. It analyzes the channels through which SWFs deploy impact …

Female Indentured Servants And The Law In The Colonial Chesapeake, Jennifer Daniel Corbitt Apr 2026

Female Indentured Servants And The Law In The Colonial Chesapeake, Jennifer Daniel Corbitt

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

Abstract In colonial Virginia and Maryland, indentured servants were the primary engine of the colony's economy. In theory, the temporary exchange of labor for passage and potential social mobility offered women and men a similar opportunity to rise above their original station. However, the historical research of the past few decades has revealed that women had a distinctly different experience with the law than men. This thesis will argue that colonial law defined a particular and punitive form of servitude for white indentured women, viewing them as reproductive liabilities rather than as purely in economic assets. While The author has …

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This dissertation addresses the lengthy history of the investigations into the catacombs of Sicily and Malta. These investigations, in some cases, began as early as the 17th century. They have maintained the intrigue of archaeologists beginning in the late 19th century. In doing so, these spaces have amassed truly remarkable amounts of data and of interpretations of that data. This legacy data has proved simultaneously a barrier and an entrance to understanding these complexes. While they are valuable for descriptions of the spaces prior to mutilations and interventions as well as descriptions of evidence no longer extant due to a …

Democracy At Work And The Promise Of Dignity: Worker Cooperatives And The Experiences Of Workers Of Color, Isabella "Leila" Thomas

Undergraduate Theses

The United States faces profound wealth inequality which has also disproportionately disadvantaged people of color in terms of economic security. This study investigates how participation in worker cooperatives, which provide higher wages and greater worker benefits on average, impacts worker-members of color. The study draws on qualitative interviews with worker members from largely minority-led cooperatives. It explores how the key cooperative principles of democratic decision-making, autonomy, and community engagement can counteract marginalization. This paper fills significant gaps in research on workplace dynamics by applying Blustein & Allan (2025)'s recently formulated dignity-at-work framework to an alternative, democratized workplace model rather than …

Rethinking Sustainable Development: Postcolonial Perspectives And Alternative Pathways To Progress, Lauren M. Pappalardo Apr 2026

Rethinking Sustainable Development: Postcolonial Perspectives And Alternative Pathways To Progress, Lauren M. Pappalardo

Undergraduate Theses

Sustainable development, promoted as a universal model, does not reflect a neutral global goal as advertised, but rather, often reproduces longstanding colonial power relations through political projects, and should be reimagined to endorse a multifaceted approach through consideration of alternative worldviews and values, emphasizing context dependent processes and aspirations. Thus, what might context dependent constructions of sustainable development look like in implementation? How do various cosmologies which inspire Indigenous and economic driven worldviews fit into theories of global politics? This thesis offers an understanding of current global development issues and successes and offers suggestions for a more equitable approach to …
