Revealing Cryptic Lineage Diversity In The Persian Gulf And Oman Sea Groupers (Perciformes: Epinephelidae): Phylogenetic And Species Delimitation Insights, Ehsan Damadi, Faezeh Yazdani Moghaddam, Masoumeh Gholipour Cheshm Gilak, Mehdi Ghanbarifardi
Turkish Journal of Zoology
Groupers (Epinephelidae) are a taxon of great commercial interest due to their large body size and high market value, and are also an important ecological species for biodiversity conservation in coral reef ecosystems. Despite their importance, phenotypic convergence among species generally leads to incorrect taxonomic identification, an issue enhanced by molecular studies revealing the presence of a high cryptic diversity and complicating conventional systematic frameworks. Herein, grouper species diversity in the ecologically heterogeneous Persian Gulf and Oman Sea was investigated to resolve taxonomic ambiguities and assess patterns of cryptic diversity. Mitochondrial COI gene sequencing was used in conjunction with integrative …

A Binary Multiobjective Hippopotamus Optimization Algorithm For Feature Selection In Phishing Website Detection, Fatima Belmessaoud, Sofiane Maza, Djaafar Zouache
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Phishing website detection remains a major challenge in cybersecurity as attackers continuously develop new techniques to deceive users. Identifying the most informative features from large datasets is essential to improve classification accuracy while reducing computational complexity. Feature selection is therefore widely addressed using metaheuristic optimization techniques due to their flexibility and global search capability. In this study, we propose a Binary Multiobjective Hippopotamus Optimization Algorithm (B-MOHOA) for feature selection in phishing website detection. The proposed method simultaneously optimizes two conflicting objectives: maximizing classification accuracy and minimizing the number of selected features. Unlike many existing studies that mainly focus on transfer …
Range–Angle-Dependent Oam Beamforming With A Concentric Helical Circular Fda, Uğur Yeşi̇lyurt
Range–Angle-Dependent Oam Beamforming With A Concentric Helical Circular Fda, Uğur Yeşi̇lyurt
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Secure and spatially selective wireless transmission requires orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams that are confined to a specific range and angle, rather than propagating indefinitely along the beam axis. In this paper, a concentric helical circular frequency diverse array (CHCFDA) is proposed to generate range–angle-dependent OAM beams without requiring external phase shifters. The helical element positioning inherently provides the necessary interelement phase distribution through physical step height, while logarithmically increasing frequency offsets are applied across concentric rings—and optionally across individual elements—to eliminate range periodicity and achieve a single, well-focused OAM beam exclusively at the target location. Both linear and logarithmic …

Much research discussed the value of teaching additional language, literature, and the arts for young learners. Among the many benefits, some research mentioned the development of children's knowledge, emotion, intellect, imagination, as well as reading habits. Collectively, most studies in this area suggested facilitating the teaching of language, literature, and the arts as a part of lesson planning in the classroom. However, in an ESL context such as Indonesia, the ideal situation for the incorporation of language, literature, and the arts is not easy to accomplish. Therefore, the study outlines a design of a program that integrates the teaching of …

Starting To Feel Like A Clinician: Graduate Student Experiences Of Communication Partner Training For People With Aphasia, Katie A. Strong, Esther S. Kim, Aura Kagan, Nina Simmons-Mackie
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Communication partner training (CPT) is among the most evidence-based interventions for supporting people with aphasia, yet many speech-language pathologists report not implementing it in practice, and graduate students frequently report low confidence communicating with people with aphasia prior to targeted training. This qualitative descriptive study examined graduate students' experiences learning CPT through a course-embedded, multi-modal experiential approach with structured reflection. Written reflections from 79 first-year graduate students across two university programs served as the data source. Reflections were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Three themes emerged: Learning by Design, reflecting students' metacognitive awareness of the pedagogical elements most meaningful …
When Students Use Ai Before They Learn To Think Clinically: Cognitive Offloading In Communication Sciences And Disorders Education, Salim Alani
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Generative artificial intelligence is becoming part of how students study, write, summarize, and prepare for coursework in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). Much of the current discussion in higher education has focused on plagiarism, academic integrity, and responsible technology use. Those concerns matter, but they do not fully address what may be a larger educational issue in professional preparation programs. Students can now generate polished explanations, study materials, treatment rationales, and clinical summaries quickly, sometimes before independently developing the reasoning skills those tasks are intended to build. This paper examines cognitive offloading in CSD education, defined here as the shifting …

Understanding Career Path Decisions: Student Perceptions Of Working In School-Based Slp Settings, Joanna Scoggins, Michelle Jordan, Suzanne M. Adlof
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Currently, in many parts of the United States, there are dire shortages of SLPs working in school-based settings (ASHA 2024; Edgar & Rosa-Lugo, 2007). While the perceptions of school-based SLPs have been explored (Edgar & Rosa-Lugo 2007; Marante & Farquharson, 2021), there has been little work on the perceptions of students that lead toward their choice of career path. The current study aimed to gather information on SLP student perceptions to determine: 1) How do graduate students perceive working in a school setting as an SLP compared to other employment settings? 2) How do student perceptions and career intentions change …

Integrating Public Health Into Communication Sciences And Disorders Curriculum, Whitney D. Perkins, Yalanda M. Barner, Jennifer Wiles, Brandi Newkirk-Turner
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
The field of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is increasingly integrating public health into its practice and research. This is because less than 10% of speech-language pathology and audiology graduate programs are housed within Colleges or Schools of Public Health (PH), reducing the likelihood that students in CSD have the opportunity for coursework and co-curricular activities that integrate PH and CSD. In this paper, we discuss the holistic approach we used to integrate PH into a CSD program at a Historically Black University. The approach was guided by PH and CSD accreditation standards and involved a didactic course, CSD courses …

Abstract
Supporting interprofessional competency-based education requires embedding educational opportunities within coursework and clinical experiences. This education prioritizes student engagement and learning from, with and about other professionals to support collaboration and communication amongst clinicians (CAIE, 2020). While the provision of interprofessional clinical opportunities is recommended, it is challenging to implement effectively in professional and pre-professional settings. Academic settings have the unique ability to provide interprofessional collaborative clinical experiences for students. This pilot study focuses on Speech Language Pathology (SLP) and Occupational Therapy (OT) clinical assessment experiences, specifically in the context of pediatric motor speech and sensory processing disorders. These disorders …

Understanding The Political Profile Of Long Island’S Central American Electorate: A Case Study Of Long Island’S Majority-Latino Towns, Brett J. Patrick
Binghamton University Undergraduate Journal
As Salvadoran and Guatemalan migrants settled en masse across Long Island from the 1980s to the 2010s, seven Latino-majority towns emerged, each with distinct voting patterns that diverge from broader national Latino trends and from one another. This study examines how and why these Central American communities vote by integrating precinct-level election returns with the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey data. Using variables such as income, population density, education, citizenship status, and language, it identifies correlations between demographic conditions and partisan vote share. This approach reveals how socioeconomic factors shape political behavior within Salvadoran-American and Guatemalan-American enclaves in Nassau and …

The rapid growth of social media platforms has intensified concerns regarding online privacy, data security, and fraudulent activities that driven by fake accounts. This paper proposes a Privacy-Aware Hybrid Detection Framework (PAHDF) to detect Instagram fake account that integrates privacy preservation with high-performance machine learning. Unlike existing approaches that treat privacy and detection as separated objectives, therefore, the proposed framework jointly addresses both objectives by relying exclusively on publicly available, low-sensitivity profile metadata. PAHDF combines a deep learning model for latent feature representation with a Random Forest classifier for behavioural pattern learning through a Class-Aware Weighted Stacking Ensemble (CAWSE), where …
