Legal Shifts And Judicial Inconsistencies In Strict Liability After The Omnibus Law: A Critical Analysis Of Indonesian Environmental Law For Responsible Mining And Esg Compliance, Nurul Listiyani, Khenza Atthaya Namira Yulianto
Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development
The legal significance of strict liability in mining arises from the sector’s capacity to generate technically complex, diffuse, and long-latency environmental harm that is difficult to address through fault-based litigation alone. This study aims to evaluate how the post-Omnibus Law reformulation of Article 88 of Law No. 32 of 2009 has affected the doctrinal autonomy, judicial consistency, and practical enforcement of strict liability in Indonesian environmental law. The research used normative doctrinal legal research including statutory, case-law, conceptual, comparative, and evaluative analyses. The data cover the 2009–2025 period and consist of two core statutory formulations of Article 88, the Job …

The Role Of Family Problem-Solving And Neighborhood Social Cohesion On Child Socioemotional Learning Among Families With Low-Income, Nazaret C. Suazo, Alanah C. Claybaugh, Deborah J. Jones
Journal of Applied Research on Children: Informing Policy for Children at Risk
Socioemotional learning (SEL) is linked to a broad range of child outcomes, with income playing an important role in child SEL, yet most work has compared high- and low-income children yielding less understanding of variability in risk and protective factors within low-income families and communities. Building upon theories in the positive youth development literature and public health frameworks exploring social determinants of health, this study explored the role of family problem-solving, neighborhood social cohesion, and neighborhood resources in understanding child SEL within 1097 low-income families of 3- to 5-year-old children who participated in the National Survey of Children’s Health. Using …
Industry Implications Of A Scaffolded Hospitality Co-Op, Juan Mendez, Joel Reynolds
Industry Implications Of A Scaffolded Hospitality Co-Op, Juan Mendez, Joel Reynolds
ICHRIE Research Reports
The hospitality industry faces a persistent skills gap as graduates enter the workforce with limited preparation in the adaptive, operational, and AI-enabled competencies modern employers require (Jackson, 2013; Sigala, 2018). Cooperative education offers a structured response, yet many programs default to a single internship that leaves the integration of theory and practice to chance. This report presents an undergraduate scaffolded cooperative education framework developed at a U.S. hospitality business school that sequences two foundation courses, six concurrent work-integrated courses, and a capstone digital portfolio across a two-year arc. The framework is grounded in experiential learning and scaffolding theory (Kolb, 1984; …

Temporal Variation In Picophytoplankton Pigment Phenotypes Of Two Urban Rivers, Kylee M. Lamberson, Camille E. Wendlandt, Kristin E. Forgrave, Anne W. Thompson
International Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities
Picophytoplankton are a group of photosynthetic, unicellular organisms, making them key primary producers in aquatic ecosystems. These cells numerically dominate in oceans and lakes where picophytoplankton communities contain phenotypic subpopulations that correspond to biogeographic patterns. In rivers, however, such community dynamics are less studied. We examined the phenotypic subpopulations of picophytoplankton in two converging urban river environments of Portland, Oregon (USA): the Columbia and the Willamette Rivers. From September 2022 through July 2023, we took roughly bi-weekly surface water samples and used multi-laser flow cytometry to distinguish between photosynthetic cells based on their size and pigment fluorescence. We discovered seven …

People and Animals: The International Journal of Research and Practice
Individuals experience several changes in their lives, with one of the most impactful being leaving home to attend college. It is no surprise that college-age students need mental health support, especially in times of adjustment. To address this adjustment, animal-assisted interventions (AAI) have recently gained substantial attention. In this study, college and university departments that help students transition to higher education were surveyed (N = 59) and interviewed (N = 6) to understand how AAI are utilized. Results indicate that AAI have potential to ease students’ higher education transition, though institutions must establish an outline that states the benefits of …

Shrinkage Of Jupiter's Great Red Spot, Richard W. Schmude Jr.
Georgia Journal of Science
This report summarizes changes in Jupiter's Great Red Spot (GRS) on the multi-decade time scale. The mean shrinkage rates for 1960-2016 are 0.21 degrees/year (east-west) and 0.52 degrees/year (north-south). The east-west shrinkage rate is much higher than the corresponding value for Oval BA. Between 1878 and 2026, the GRS area shrunk by over a factor of four with a mean annual shrinkage rate of 1.0 %. The GRS quotient (east-west length in degrees longitude divided by north-south length in degrees latitude) has decreased. This is consistent with the GRS becoming more circular with time. This is different than Oval BA, …

‘I’Ve Always Been On Call For My Sister’: An Exploration Of The Impact Of Having A Sibling With A Life Limiting Condition On The Experience Of Education, Emily Joanne Pinn
Plymouth Interdisciplinary Education Open Journal
There are currently approximately 99,000 babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions (LLCs) in the UK alone (Together for Short Lives, 2025b). Many of these young people will have siblings who are navigating the opportunities and challenges of having a sibling with an LLC. Despite this, there is a stark lack of research investigating the impact of being one of these siblings. As a result, this combined autoethnographic and qualitative enquiry will aim to provide an insight into how young people’s experiences of being a young carer to a sibling with an LLC impacted different elements of their …

Phosphoric Acid-Mediated Regeneration Of Sugarcane Bagasse Cellulose-Rich Fraction For Enzymatic Production Of Water-Soluble Cellulosic Oligomers, Chiou-Yeong Saw, David Agus Setiawan Wibisono, Tsung-Yen Wu, Yung Chang, Chi-Fai Chau
Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
An integrated strategy was developed to promote conversion of a sugarcane bagasse cellulose-rich fraction into water-soluble cellulosic oligomers (WCOs) through phosphoric acid-mediated regeneration and enzymatic hydrolysis. Alkaline pretreatment on sugarcane bagasse powder increased glucan content from 57.6 to 93.4 g/100 g sample and lowered Klason lignin to 6.1 g/100 g sample. Phosphoric acid-mediated regeneration was subsequently capable of reorganizing the structure of cellulose from sugarcane bagasse, resulting in a decrease of crystallinity from 72.9 to 64.0% and introducing cellulose II-like features. The hydration state of regenerated cellulose strongly influenced hydrolysis performance, as the hydrated form showed significantly higher solubilization (810.4 …

Birch On Fetal Sentience, Claudia Passos-Ferreira
Birch On Fetal Sentience, Claudia Passos-Ferreira
Animal Sentience
Birch proposes that human fetuses be recognized as sentience candidates from 12 weeks, on the grounds that midbrain-centered theories fall within the zone of reasonable disagreement among theories of consciousness. I raise a methodological and a policy problem for his view. Methodologically, whether the midbrain-centered view belongs within the zone is disputed, so there is no consensus about the consensus. Furthermore, the evidence Birch discusses for 12 weeks does not actually estimate the onset of sentience; the proposed threshold tracks anatomical rather than functional onset. On policy, the US Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling shows that fetal sentience is difficult to …

Rethinking “Projection Theory”: Wang Fuzhi's And Gernot Böhme's Theories Of “Scene” And “Thing”, Xiaoping Li
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
In Chinese classical poetics, the core category of “scene” is often understood as the product of a poet's “empathy” with, or “projection” of emotion onto, external things. However, Wang Fuzhi's (1619—1692) depiction of “sad emotion in a joyful scene” and the contemporary German aesthetician Gernot Böhme's discovery of “experience of contrast” challenge the plausibility of projection theory at the level of experience. “Projection theory” is based on the presupposition that the “thing” is a pre-existing and objectively real entity. Wang Fuzhi and Gernot Böhme show that this understanding of the “thing” ignores “hiddenness” or “transparency.” This blind spot is formed …

“The Crown Of Writings”: The Establishment Of Liu Yin's Literary Status And His Ideological Origins, Tianxiao Ren
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
The recognition of Liu Yin's literary identity reflected the gradual establishment of the academic system and revealed the political tendency of the Yuan dynasty. The cabinet literati generally regarded Liu Yin (1249-1293) as the first in the literary field, owing to the profound historical destiny of Zhongzhou (the central region of ancient China, including present-day Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, and Shandong) and the awe-inspiring righteousness in this poems that transcended personal gains or loss. By integrating the evaluative criteria of poetry, historical context, and personal character, they sought to construct a refined cultural tradition for the Yuan dynasty through writings imbued …
Poetic Standpoint, Consciousness Reverence For Southern Qu, And The Ornate Style: Wang Shizhen's Qu Criticism And Its Historical Significance, Jiang Xu
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
Wang Shizhen's critique of qu (songs) is primarily found in his Rambles in the Garden of Art. Previous scholarship has largely assessed his contributions and limitations from the perspective of drama studies, paying comparatively little attention to his poetic standpoint and his discussion centering on Southern qu. Wang's criticism is characterized by a distinct consciousness of revering Southern qu, which is articulated through his views on genre evolution, aesthetic orientation, and comparative analysis between Northern and Southern qu. First, by outlining the evolution of genres from shi (classic poetry), sao (sao-style poetry), and …

The Transgression And Construction Of Luce Irigaray's Feminist Theory, Ma Bing
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
Targeting Sigmund Freud and mimicking his theoretical methods, Luce Irigaray has deconstructed the unified gender discourse system that uses male as its core parameter, and reconstructed the male-female physiological anatomy. She has proposed and re-affirmed the diversified “style of women.” As a major figure in postmodern feminist theory, Irigaray's constant transgression against the sexual “taboos” has deconstructed and reconstructed the unitary structure into an equal and complementary dual structure. Her work signifies the maturity in the construction of feminist theories since the 1980s. However, she is also aware of the shortcomings of her theoretical system, devoting herself to self-improvement and …

The Metaphysical Longing For Unity: The Idea Of “Love” In Early German Romanticism, Shujiao Wang
The Metaphysical Longing For Unity: The Idea Of “Love” In Early German Romanticism, Shujiao Wang
Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art
