Staff Education Program On Smoking Cessation In Patients With Cardiovascular Disease, Jennifer Shipp
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Cigarette smoking in the United States constitutes a public health crisis, with millions of people having cigarette-related diseases and comorbidities. Although there is an increased prevalence of uncontrolled smoking among patients with cardiovascular diseases, many healthcare facilities, including the project site, lack adequate screening for tobacco use among cardiovascular patients. The 5As (asking, advising, assessing, assisting, and arranging) model of behavioral change provided the framework for the project. The practice-focused question for this project addressed whether a staff education program specifically designed to instruct healthcare providers on using the 5As intervention with cardiovascular patients would increase their knowledge of smoking …

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections account for most oropharyngeal, anal, and penile cancers among men. Two vaccines have been recommended for boys 11 years of age or older to prevent HPV infection, but HPV vaccination rates are far below the Healthy People 2030 target goal. Some research indicates the role of the parent is vital in HPV vaccine uptake, but to what extent is unclear. Through quantitative secondary data analysis of the National Immunization Survey-Teen 2016 (NIS-Teen) data set (n = 43,271) that was grounded in the health belief model, chi-square, and logistic regression analyses revealed three key findings. Relationship Between Religious Beliefs And Systems, Educational Levels, And Victim Blaming, Frances Runyon
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Sexual assault and victim blaming are a severe problem. Being sexually assaulted increases the risk of physical and mental health issues for the victims. When the victims are blamed for being sexually assaulted, their physical and mental health issues increase substantially. Many victims do not seek help or support services because of the fear of being blamed. People believe in a just world, and blame the victims because it is more difficult to accept that bad things happen to good people. When people admit that bad things can happen to good people, they acknowledge that these things can happen to …
