Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health problem in the United States. Adolescents are a high majority of these cases, with African American adolescents being affected disproportionally. Previous research has shown that risky sexual behaviors, such as non-condom use, multiple sexual partners, early initiation of sexual intercourse, and alcohol or marijuana use before sexual intercourse put adolescents at a higher risk of contracting an STI when they are sexually active. In an urban school district in a southwestern state, the problem investigated was that elementary educators are struggling to support the reading needs of Grade 3 through Grade 6 students from families having limited access to economic resources. Students with higher socioeconomic status (SES) outperform students with low SES backgrounds. Students with proficient reading skills demonstrate higher overall academic performance and more post-secondary opportunities. Individuals with intellectual disabilities have higher rates of unemployment compared to other population groups. There is limited knowledge regarding the development of postsecondary education (PSE) programs that provide employment skills training and education to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Although there were two fire stations located in the township, one area was contractually serviced by a nearby borough. Stations are staffed by volunteers, which creates problems with coverage and timely responses. The “nine-minute-90%-of-the-time” National Fire Protection Association standard was not always achieved. AbstractMass incarceration in the United States has resulted in an estimated 19.7 million youth living in fatherless homes. Incarcerated juvenile fathers are contributing to that number. Juvenile fathers who are incarcerated is a socially pertinent topic with significant implications, yet child developmental scholars understudy it. Internet and social media misuse contributes to negative mental health outcomes among young adults. Because research suggests that cultural attitudes may influence Internet use, using Hofstede’s cultural dimension theory as the foundation, the purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which race and collectivistic/individualistic cultural attitudes predict Internet addiction and nomophobia. The sample included 250 college students (140 Caucasian, 110 African American) between the ages of 18 and 22. Participants completed the Horizontal & Vertical Individualism Collectivism II scale, the Internet Addiction Test, and the Nomophobia Questionnaire.
