The role of those who work in child protective services (CPS) is to ensure children's safety and well-being. This study explored eight CPS professionals’ perceptions of risk assessment in child protection cases and their ideas of barriers and facilitators they encountered in their decision-making in the field. Through a force field analysis, using Lewin's change theory, content analysis of narrative data collected using open ended surveys revealed child welfare professionals’ experiences with the driving and restraining forces in child risk assessment. Examining Turnover Intent Among Young Federal Employees: Organizational Support, Satisfaction, Psychological Safety, And Burnout Interplay, Lyndsey Tuft

This study examined factors influencing turnover intentions among federal employees under 40 years old, focusing on perceived organizational support, employee satisfaction, psychological safety, and burnout. The theory that grounded this study included the organizational support theory. Structural equation modeling was applied to archival 2022 Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey data. Key results revealed strong positive associations between perceived organizational support and employee satisfaction, with both factors significantly negatively related to turnover intentions. Psychological safety and burnout showed statistically significant but small moderation effects, limited by model fit issues and multicollinearity. Unexpectedly, burnout positively associated with employee satisfaction …

Poor community–police relationships impact both communities and police because the community may feel unfairly targeted for enforcement. This qualitative study investigated what attributes are essential to executive law enforcement success. The theoretical framework was the person-organization fit theory as it applies to public service motivation. Data were collected from chief law enforcement executives and their direct reports from eight municipal law enforcement agencies in the Dallas County area of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Area through an open-ended qualitative questionnaire; the sample population consisted of 19 police executives. Surviving a stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI) can bring about life changes and negatively impact future quality of life. This study explored municipal law enforcement active shooter response training, tools used in response to active shooter incidents, and community policing policies practiced by the agency. Law enforcement agencies across the country are confronted with the problems associated with substance abuse. Law enforcement personnel receive only cursory training on substance abuse and lack targeted training that addresses the complex problems that are associated with it, such as co-existing mental health issues. This study, conducted on behalf of a state-wide Sheriff’s Association, identified officer beliefs and attitudes towards substance abuse to make training recommendations that are better tailored to officer’s training needs. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a global health concern and is the second global leading cause of mental illness that produces disability and disease. Individuals with multiple tattoos who exhibit MDD have not been adequately studied. Individuals with multiple tattoos who exhibit MDD may struggle because of psychosocial associations of the diagnosis. Seven women and three men, ages 18 to 65, participated in this qualitative, phenomenological study. Data obtained from the semistructured; audio-recorded confidential video call interviews were analyzed with Moustakas’ bracketing method.
