Improving Financial Employee Organizational Commitment During Post-Merger Integration, Natalie Yve Cote Canestro
Improving Financial Employee Organizational Commitment During Post-Merger Integration, Natalie Yve Cote Canestro
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) remain a top growth strategy for organizational leaders. However, the success of these initiatives is often undermined during post-merger integration (PMI) due to challenges in aligning organizational cultures, processes, and employee commitment. A lack of focus on enhancing employees’ organizational commitment (OC) during this critical phase can lead to disengagement, resistance to change, decreased productivity, and higher turnover rates. The purpose of the pragmatic inquiry was to explore how financial managers enhance their employees’ OC during PMI through the Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) framework. Data were collected through semistructured interviews of six financial managers. Data were then …
Junior High Educators' Lived Experiences Of Self-Directed Learning For Teaching Online In 2020, April Vay Madsen
Junior High Educators' Lived Experiences Of Self-Directed Learning For Teaching Online In 2020, April Vay Madsen
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Researchers have identified common educator challenges in switching from face-to-face to online teaching, including time management, course content, communication, and the use of technology effectively. There is little or no research on the lived experiences of junior high school educators who applied self-directed learning skills to adapt to the changes in educational formats from March 2020 to September 2020. This qualitative study aimed to explore these experiences as educators transitioned to online teaching due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mezirow’s transformational learning theory and Knowles et al.’s adult learning assumptions are used as the theoretical and conceptual frameworks, respectively. Giorgi’s descriptive …
The Mediating Role Of Trust On Tacit Knowledge Sharing And Job Satisfaction, Shami Orinthea Miller
The Mediating Role Of Trust On Tacit Knowledge Sharing And Job Satisfaction, Shami Orinthea Miller
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Effective knowledge management is vital for organizational success. However, challenges in knowledge gaps arise when key individuals depart from their respective organizations and there is no effective knowledge management system. This study was an exploration of the nuanced relationship among trust, tacit knowledge sharing, and job satisfaction in the life insurance industry. Trust, job satisfaction, and tacit knowledge sharing are critical components in organizational dynamics. Tacit knowledge sharing is difficult to codify, and employees might be motivated to share their know-how on the basis of anticipated benefits and reciprocal interactions. On the other hand, research that explores the relationship between …

Schizophrenia adversely affects the brain, leading to impaired perception, emotion, and behavior, making it one of the leading conditions that results in self-care deficit. The self-care deficit problem will emerge due to the inability of a patient with schizophrenia to take care of themselves due to behavioral, perceptual, or cognitive issues. The purpose of this project was to implement a staff education program for nurses working in a Mid-Atlantic behavioral and mental health hospital on how to assist patients who have schizophrenia manage their self-care. Thus, the purpose of this project is to introduce clinicians at the selected project site to an evidence based clinical decision support tool and evaluate participants readiness to utilize the tool. Staff education on the clinical decision support for immunization (CDSi) tool was conducted …

Impact Of Social Determinants Of Health On Preterm Births Among Black Women, Tashara Coakley
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Reducing preterm birth (PTB) in Black women is a public health priority. The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional study was to analyze the association between selected Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and PTB types, both spontaneous and provider-initiated in Black women using the SDoH framework. A logistic regression analysis used secondary data from the 2018 Natality Public Use File. In the adjusted models, higher paternal education, college degree or higher (OR = .791, 95% CI [.637, .982]) was associated with reduced odds of provider-initiated PTB. Fewer prenatal visits, seven to eleven visits OR = 2.301 (95% CI [2.034, 2.601]) and …

Hyperlipidemia is one of the modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), the leading cause of death among minority populations in the United States, including foreign-born people. Therefore, preventing and treating hyperlipidemia alongside other CVD risk factors is critical for avoiding CVD. Prior research examined disparities in health insurance coverage, length of stay, and blood cholesterol with mixed observations over time with new immigrants. This study aimed to determine if there was a statistically significant association between language spoken at home, length of stay in the United States, having health insurance coverage or none, and high cholesterol level status among …

Exploring The Predictive Powers On Instructional Domain Scores For Universal Prekindergarten Programs, Nicole Marie Ickes
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The problem addressed in this quantitative study was that 80% of universal prekindergarten (UPK) programs in the Northeast United States did not meet the quality threshold in the instructional supports (IS) domain of the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). This study was grounded in systems theory and Garira’s unified framework for education quality to examine the relationship between child-to-teacher ratios and IS domain scores, with student-gender ratios as a moderating factor. Two research questions guided this study: (a) How does the child-to-teacher average UPK program ratios predict the UPK programs’ IS domain score of CLASS? and (b) How does the …
