The Effect Of Cibs Participation And Gender On Adolescent Residential Treatment Duration, Tyler Maxwell Dority
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Additional out-of-home placement rates for adolescents in long-term regional treatment center (LTRT) programs in the United States are between 50% and 75%. There appears to be a failure to generalize treatment to home and community in programs that do not fully integrate family involvement. The collaborative intensive bridging services (CIBS) treatment model uses intensive family therapy and brief residential treatment center (RTC) placement to reduce or eliminate use of LTRT. Using family systems theory, the purpose of this study was to determine whether participation in CIBS provided better outcomes than LTRT programs. The study used archival data collected by Family …

Polypharmacy, The Electronic Medical Record, And Adverse Drug Events, Unyime Eyoh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Polypharmacy, a concurrent chronic use of multiple prescribed and over-the-counter medications by the same individual, is one of the clinical problems facing primary care providers. Polypharmacy creates the potential for adverse drug-related events, especially in the elderly. The advent of electronic medical records (EMR) may help identify and respond to these potential adverse events. The purpose of this project was to investigate the relationship between the total number of medication taken by elderly, 65 years and older, and the severity of drug-drug and drug-disease interactions triggered by the EMR system. The study used a retrospective chart review of the EMRs. …
Postsecondary Online Students' Preferences For Instructor Feedback, Joseph John Gredler
Postsecondary Online Students' Preferences For Instructor Feedback, Joseph John Gredler
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Misalignment between student preferences and instructor assumptions regarding feedback may impede student learning. Researchers have investigated postsecondary students' preferences for types of instructor feedback including written, audio, and video. However, postsecondary online students' preferences have not been explored in a large-sample study. This sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was conducted to describe postsecondary online students' preferences and the reasons for those preferences. Vygotsky's social-constructivist theory was used to frame instructor feedback as a scaffolding tool to promote self-regulation in student writing. A survey containing quantitative and qualitative questions was used to collect 93 responses from undergraduate and graduate students attending a …
