Seventh-Day Adventist Clergy’S Perceptions Of Dealing With Parishioners’ Mental And Emotional Health Challenges, Allens Gilles

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The issue of how Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) clergy perceive and address parishioners’ mental health challenges is critical. Clergy perceptions are significant because they can greatly influence parishioners’ quality of life and choices regarding mental health care. Thus, the purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the perceptions of SDA clergy regarding how to assist parishioners with emotional and mental health challenges. The theoretical framework was the mental health literacy theory, developed in the mid-1990s. Data were collected from semistructured interviews with 10 clergy of African American …

Suicide Bereavement And Community Resource Use From A Clinician’S Perspective, Kristina Rose Culpepper

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Social workers, clinicians, and mental health professionals commonly work to positively influence their client’s lives. The suicide-loss population is vulnerable with seemingly limited research-based interventions and resources. The research addressed how clinicians describe the availability and benefit of community resources at each system level. This study was guided by systems theory, which allows clinicians …

This project addressed the lack of knowledge regarding evidence-based practices to address the challenges and positive therapeutic experiences of social workers, specifically those working in clinical practice with Black American male clients. Home And Community-Based Case Manager Job Satisfaction During The Covid-19 Public Health Emergency, Timothy Frederick Conroy

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

There is limited information on the impact on Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) case managers’ job satisfaction as COVID-19 policies altered the way their jobs were performed. Public health emergency (PHE) policies used to limit exposure of high-risk community-based individuals to COVID-19 resulted in various adjustments to traditional job responsibilities. However, there was a gap in cohesive and generalizable information regarding how specialized program staff respond to patrons’ psychological crises. The aim of this qualitative force field analysis study was to identify and document a model procedure for library staff to implement during a customer crisis. A secondary aim was to inform the actions and de-escalation approaches taken by staff members during these incidents. Factors Influencing Counselors-In-Training Disclosure, Grace Greenan

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Within counseling supervision relationships, supervisor feedback is an important aspect of counselors-in-training (CIT) development to improve CIT counseling competency and confidence in practice. Effective supervision requires CITs to disclose details about their practice, including counseling approaches, interpretations, challenges, and errors. Prior research has indicated CITs withheld information as often as 97% of the time in some cases. Grounded in a psychoanalytic theoretical foundation, the purpose of this quantitative survey study was to examine if the quality of supervision relationships and CIT resilience predicted CIT willingness to disclose during supervision. The researcher analyzed data using descriptive statistics, a stepwise multiple regression …

Through data collection and analysis, five themes emerged: (a) women have had to find creative ways of addressing menstruation; (b) women have had to find creative ways of addressing the personal hygiene …

Improving The Teaching Effectiveness Of South African Educators As Inclusive Primary School Education Practitioners, Rashika Matthews Aug 2024

Improving The Teaching Effectiveness Of South African Educators As Inclusive Primary School Education Practitioners, Rashika Matthews

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

In 1996, government policies in South Africa required all educational institutions to align with human rights and equality. Public schools now operate as inclusive institutions. Thus, there exists a problem that after 23 years of policy implementation, South African educators continue to acknowledge their need for knowledge, skills, and training to support effective inclusive education. There is an educational imperative to identify the South African educators’ gap in knowledge and skills to improve their effectiveness as active, inclusive practitioners. Mezirow’s transformational learning theory aligns with the South African educators’ need to build knowledge and inclusion skills. This research includes interviews …

Relationship Between Cultural Barriers, Adaptation Mechanisms, And Quality Of Life Among Congolese Refugees, Ndasi Zialo

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Refugee cultural backgrounds are different from the primary culture in which they live. Cultural barriers have been identified as contributing factors to disparities in mental health services among refugees in the host country. They face racism, discrimination, and marginalization that impede their access to mental health services compared to the host populations. The Western model of mental health services was developed for the unique needs of the European refugees and could not always meet the needs of the non-European refugee populations. The lack of culturally specific mental health services creates disparities in mental health services that affect the quality of …
