The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Tragic, life-changing, and fatal incidents are a reality on large-scale, civil construction projects. Despite a decline following the enforcement of the 1971 Occupational Safety and Health Act, serious and fatal incidents on heavy construction projects remain higher than that of the active military and have not declined in any notable way in the past decade. Industrial-organizational literature suggested a lack of applied testing for the well-developed theory of authentic leadership (AL) to impact safety outcomes. This quasi-experiment combined the constructs of authentic leadership with safety climate perception as quantifiable measurement of potential safety outcomes in the workplace. The research question …

Teachers' Job Satisfaction And Efficacy As Indicators Of Intent-To-Leave Teaching, Vinessa Lopez
Teachers' Job Satisfaction And Efficacy As Indicators Of Intent-To-Leave Teaching, Vinessa Lopez
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Understanding possible contributing factors of teacher attrition is important and necessary to retain effective teachers in schools. Based …
Waste Management Minimization Strategies In Hospitals, Andrea L. Clark
Waste Management Minimization Strategies In Hospitals, Andrea L. Clark
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
During the delivery of healthcare services, hospital employees use enormous amounts of water, energy, and nonbiodegradable carcinogenic plastics. In the U.S., hospital staff generate an average of over 7,000 tons of waste per day at an average cost of $0.28 per pound for the disposal of regulated medical trash, which if efficiently managed or reduced, could result in substantial cost savings. Using the organizational learning and the transaction cost economics theories as the conceptual frameworks, the purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore strategies healthcare leaders used to minimize their waste management operational costs. Employees affected by burnout syndrome often experience reduced engagement and decreased
job performance, costing their organizations through lost productivity and profit. However, it is
not clear what causes employee burnout in working environments. The purpose of this
correlation study was to examine the relationships between project cost, project team member
role, project schedule, and project team member burnout. This study was grounded in the job
demands-resources theory, which states that all employees experience demands in their work that
may lead to long-term stress and eventually burnout syndrome if these demands are not mitigated
by job resources. The population for this …

The research question for this qualitative phenomenological study focused on the lived experiences of current or former virtual financial services workers regarding job retention. Participants were chosen using purposeful …

Improving The Care Of Patients With Urinary Catheters Through A Quality Improvement, Ashley Nicole Holmstrom
Improving The Care Of Patients With Urinary Catheters Through A Quality Improvement, Ashley Nicole Holmstrom
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) significantly increases patient morbidity and mortality, length of stay, and organizational cost. In the 2 years prior to project implementation, the incidence of CAUTI increased by 15% in the local acute care, inpatient facility that served as the project site. Nursing leaders at the project site linked the increase in CAUTIs to a nursing knowledge deficit related to CAUTI prevention principles. The clinical question focused on the impact of CAUTI prevention staff training on the incidence of CAUTI, length of stay, and cost to the local acute care organization. After a review and critical appraisal …
African American Women Leaders, Intersectionality, And Organizations, Kena Renee Mayberry
African American Women Leaders, Intersectionality, And Organizations, Kena Renee Mayberry
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Research suggested that African American women (AAW) leaders are overlooked as candidates
for senior level positions in organizations. The problem that prompted this study was the lack of empirical research surrounding the intersectionality of race and gender and how this dual identity informed their leadership development and excluded AAW from the leadership promotion group identified by organizations. The research questions addressed how AAW described their career trajectory, strategies that were used to transform institutional barriers into leadership opportunities, how AAW leaders perceived their dual identity as contributing to their unique organizational experiences, and how AAW leaders perceived their role as …
