Parental Participation And Engagement In North Carolina Medicaid Enhanced Mental Health Services For Children And Adolescents, Jonathan Andrew Traylor
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Parental participation and engagement (PPE) are positively associated with improved treatment outcomes for children receiving mental health services; however, parental involvement remains inconsistent among culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged families served through North Carolina Medicaid enhanced mental health services. Barriers to communication, collaboration, and sustained engagement may limit parents’ active participation in treatment planning and service delivery. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore PPE among culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged parents whose children received North Carolina Medicaid enhanced mental health services. The ecological perspective of human development constituted the theoretical framework for this study. Data were …

General Education Teacher Experiences With Implementing Inclusion In Middle School, Kelly Anne Bodkin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
A state in the Pacific Northwest implemented an initiative to increase access to the general education setting for students with disabilities; however, students with disabilities continue to perform significantly below grade level standards despite the increase in inclusion. Guided by Bandura’s social cognitive theory of self-efficacy, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to examine the perceptions of the challenges, successes, and necessary resources of eight general education teachers who teach students with disabilities in their classrooms. Semistructured interviews were conducted with eight general education teachers teaching students with disabilities in the general education setting. Thematic analysis using deductive …
K–8 Teachers' Perceptions Of The Barriers To Educating Chronically Absent Homeless Youth, Daniel James Pangrazio
K–8 Teachers' Perceptions Of The Barriers To Educating Chronically Absent Homeless Youth, Daniel James Pangrazio
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Abstract The problem that was addressed through this study is that kindergarten through eighth-grade homeless students experience higher rates of chronic absenteeism and lower educational outcomes than their housed peers in California. Grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, the purpose of this study was to explore K–8 teachers’ perceptions of the barriers they face in educating chronically absent homeless youth. For this basic qualitative design, semistructured interviews were conducted with 10 K–8 teachers from one California school district. Creswell and Guetterman’s five-stage coding process was used for data analysis. Four themes emerged: Teachers discussed (a) barriers to addressing student academic …
It Strategies Used To Implement Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Michele Doverspike
It Strategies Used To Implement Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Michele Doverspike
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementation represents a significant challenge for small businesses, with failure rates that can lead to substantial financial losses and operational disruption. Information Technology (IT) managers in small businesses face a gap in evidence-based strategies tailored to their organizational context, increasing the risk of implementation failure and its associated financial and operational consequences. Grounded in general systems theory, the purpose of this qualitative multicase study was to explore the strategies IT managers use to implement ERP systems in small businesses in central Pennsylvania. The participants were six IT managers from small businesses in Pennsylvania who had …
Highly Skilled First-Generation Immigrant Kenyan Women’S Lived Experiences With Workplace Integration Strategies In California, Lily Quiette Otieno
Highly Skilled First-Generation Immigrant Kenyan Women’S Lived Experiences With Workplace Integration Strategies In California, Lily Quiette Otieno
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Unlocking the potential of highly skilled first-generation immigrant women in the workplace is critical in an era of globalization and multiculturalism. The social problem is that organizations face challenges integrating highly skilled first-generation immigrant women into the U.S. workforce due to a limited understanding of effective workplace integration strategies. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of highly skilled first-generation Kenyan women with workplace integration strategies in California. The study was grounded in Graen and Uhl-Bien’s leader-member exchange theory and Crenshaw’s intersectionality theory to understand how leadership relationships and intersecting identities shaped workplace experiences. …
Psychometric Properties Of A Newly Developed Self-Report Scale To Determine The Relationship Between Retained Primary Reflexes And Behavioral Signs And Symptoms In An Adult Population, Joan Marie Macmillan
Psychometric Properties Of A Newly Developed Self-Report Scale To Determine The Relationship Between Retained Primary Reflexes And Behavioral Signs And Symptoms In An Adult Population, Joan Marie Macmillan
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Many adults suffer from mental health issues, often caused by retained primary reflexes. There are current gaps in the literature surrounding primary reflex assessment methods. The purpose of this quantitative psychometric study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of a new behavioral self-assessment scale used to identify retained primary reflexes from behavioral indicators, while also determining if statistically significant relationships exist among study variables. The theoretical foundation for this cross-sectional study was based on the neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral work of Melillo, while conceptually benefiting from several neuroplasticity related frameworks, such as those developed by Ayres, Bach-y-Rita, and Masgutova. The self-report …
Early Childhood Educators’ Experiences Teaching Literacy Acquisition Skills, Dena Renee Crews
Early Childhood Educators’ Experiences Teaching Literacy Acquisition Skills, Dena Renee Crews
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The problem investigated through this study was that early childhood educators struggle to help students with literacy acquisition skills in a Title 1 elementary school. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate early childhood educators’ experiences with the challenges of teaching literacy acquisition skills and their suggestions for improving resources and training for teaching literacy acquisition skills. The study was grounded in Clay’s emergent literacy theory and Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. For this basic qualitative design, semistructured interviews with 14 participants were conducted with the following themes emerging: Early childhood educators were challenged due to (a) students’ background …
