Depression and fibromyalgia can often exacerbate each other and are known to be bidirectional disorders. Chronic pain from fibromyalgia often leads to depression, and depression can cause pain to become worse and affect the nervous system, causing pain. The purpose of this quantitative, binary logistic regression study is to determine if there is an association between mental health and fibromyalgia in African Americans while controlling for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, arthritis, education level (ie. Some high school, high school graduate, some college or higher), diet, poverty-income-ratio, PIR, diabetes, gender, and age. The socio-ecological model included in this cross-sectional study …

This study was conducted to explore how reimbursement parity impacts HSO adoption of telehealth services. The micro-meso-macro analytical framework for understanding patient-reported outcomes was used as the theoretical foundation for the project. The research question sought to establish if there …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Past researchers have shown relationships between leadership styles and attachment and that secure attachment is positively related to transformational leadership. However, there is a gap in the research on how childhood trauma and attachment security relate to leadership styles in adults. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine how childhood trauma and attachment security relate to transactional, transformational, and laissez-faire leadership styles. Social cognitive theory and attachment theory grounded this study. In this quantitative study, the specific research design was comparative. SurveyMonkey was used to gather data from supervisor/manager leaders who were recruited on social media (N = …

The Relationship Between Magnet And Non-Magnet Designated Sites And Severe Maternal Morbidity For New Jersey Hospitals, Adrienne L. Elberfeld
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
For the past 25 years U.S. health care providers have reported higher than expected severe maternal morbidity (SMM). Magnet status is a designation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Studies indicate that hospitals with Magnet recognition provide better patient care resulting in better quality outcomes. The recent COVID-19 pandemic (COVID-19) created a global-wide disruption, presenting new systemic challenges for U.S. health care providers in providing accessible, timely patient health services. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a statistically significant difference between Magnet and non-Magnet hospitals in New Jersey (NJ) for SMM rates during COVID-19 …
Relationship Between Health Education Systems Incorporated Admission Assessment Scores And Student Completion Of A Baccalaureate Nursing Program, Colleen Peace
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Math, reading, and vocabulary comprehension are important skills needed to ensure nursing students have a solid foundation on which to develop critical thinking skills to complete a nursing program. One of the common preadmission standardized tests is the Health Education Systems Incorporated Admission Assessment (HESI A2), but little research had been conducted to determine whether there is a correlation between the score on the HESI A2 and readiness to master nursing courses at the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) level and completion of the BSN program. The purposes of this quantitative retrospective study, guided by Jeffreys’s nursing undergraduate retention …
