Female Runners’ Perspectives Of Coping With Relative Energy Deficiency In Sports (Red-S) Symptoms Through Instructor-Led Yoga, April Rae Gunnoe
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Relative energy deficiency in sports (RED-S) impacts the physical, emotional, and psychological health of adult female runners. Previous RED-S inquiry has focused on identification and evaluation of symptoms, and although researchers have investigated ways in which yoga affects adult female runner’s physical and mental health, understanding about the potential impact of instructor-led yoga practice in the treatment and management of RED-S symptoms is limited. The purpose of this basic qualitative inquiry was to investigate the lived experiences of adult female runners practicing instructor-led yoga to cope with RED-S symptoms, using the health belief model as a framework. Eight volunteers shared …

Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infection Prevention In Medical Intensive Care Unit, Linet Angir
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
. The doctoral project was a collaborative endeavor focused on central line dressing sites at a state university hospital in the northeastern United States. The aim was to reduce the current central line-associated infections (CLABSIs) rate. Through audits, it was discovered that most central line dressings needed to be completely sealed, some required insertion site clipping to ensure a complete seal, and some dressings were saturated. To uphold a commitment to quality care, clinical excellence, patient care, and superior outcomes, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project recognized the importance of implementing the recommendations to reduce CLABSIs by maintaining central …

Clinical Practice Guideline For Nurse Practitioners: Diabetes Type Two Self-Care Management, Mercedes Perez
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This project was a clinical practice guideline (CPG) for nurse practitioners regarding evidence-based guidelines for type 2 diabetes (T2DM) self-care management at a primary care practice in Ohio. The practice problem of T2DM is a prevalent disease affecting approximately 37.3 million people. T2DM can lead to complications of kidney disease, heart disease, diabetic neuropathy, eye damage, foot damage, and infections. Self-care in T2DM can improve outcomes and decrease complications. However, evidence-based guidelines are lacking to guide practitioners in self-care management of T2DM at this site. The practice-focused question was, “Does the evidence support development of a self-care, T2DM, CPG for …

Understanding Covid-19 Vaccination Hesitance Among Registered Nurses, Lucille Fenelon
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The development of the COVID-19 vaccine, while hailed as a groundbreaking scientific achievement, also brought to light a discernible hesitance from registered nurses (RNs) regarding the vaccination. While extensive research has delved into the broader phenomenon of vaccination hesitancy, there remains a notable gap in comprehensively examining the specific lived experiences of RNs in relation to this hesitancy. Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of RNs contributing to COVID-19 vaccine hesitance within the context of the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and Roy’s adaptation model. TRA helped to guide this study in identifying the …

Understanding how attachment styles influence nontraditional graduate students’ engagement is essential for advancing theoretical knowledge and developing targeted support systems in higher education. While research confirms that attachment styles affect academic outcomes, including perceptions of institutional support and learning environments, nontraditional graduate students remain underrepresented in engagement studies. Using Bowlby’s attachment theory as a guiding framework, this study investigated the relationship between secure, anxious, and avoidant attachment styles and behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. The Attachment Style Questionnaire, University Student Engagement Inventory, and a sociodemographic survey were employed, with data analyzed through a one-way MANOVA. Significant differences were found between …
