Strategies For Developing And Implementing Information Technology Systems For Ehrs, Priscilla Riddley
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Some hospital leaders lack the technical expertise to implement electronic health records (EHRs) even though the healthcare industry has a government mandate. The purpose of this single case study was to explore strategies healthcare executives use to develop and implement information technology systems for processing EHRs. The target population consisted of healthcare leaders and managers successful in implementing EHR systems in a healthcare organization. Lewin's 3-step change theory was used as the conceptual framework for this study with data collected from observations (5), semistructured interviews (5), and organizational documents. Descriptive coding was used to identify 3 themes that emerged from …
Quantitative Analysis Of Differences Between Adaptors And Innovators For Decriminalization Attitudes, Aaron Solomon
Quantitative Analysis Of Differences Between Adaptors And Innovators For Decriminalization Attitudes, Aaron Solomon
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Kirton's adaption-innovation theory suggests adaptors and innovators have different approaches to decision-making. The relationship between thinking styles in conjunction with decriminalization has not been investigated thoroughly, and this study addressed the relationship based on thinking styles and 6 demographics (race, age, gender, religion, education, and geographical location). The main research question examined whether innovators and adaptors have different attitudes about decriminalization. The hypotheses were tested with: (a) t tests to compare responses, (b) analysis of variance for comparing multiple groups and investigating moderator effects, and (c) correlation tests to determine whether Kirton's adaption-innovation inventory scores are associated with decriminalization attitudes. …

Perspectives Of Racism Among Offenders Post Incarceration, Anna Phillips
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Racial segregation in California prisons is a primary means of maintaining control and safety for inmates and correctional staff, yet little is understood about how racial segregation in prison impacts reentry of offenders into the community. The research question examined in this study focused on how living in the racial segregation of a California State prison, for 2 years or more might influence African-American, White, and Latino men's ability to interact with other races in a culturally diverse community upon release. Using Donald Clemmer's theory of prisonization as the foundation, the purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the …

The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore SSA employee's lived experiences of job satisfaction and employee turnover to uncover motivators and satisfaction strategies. The conceptual framework for the study was based on Maslow's human needs and Herzberg's two-factor theory. Data were collected from 20 SSA frontline employees using 6 open-ended interview questions. The data were analyzed …
Effects Of Occupational Stress On Decision-Making Style In Law Enforcement Officers, Christine M. Crippen
Effects Of Occupational Stress On Decision-Making Style In Law Enforcement Officers, Christine M. Crippen
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Police officers deal with a variety of stresses from different sources. Organizational stresses have the most effect on police officers, often more than stressful critical incidents. Previous research has indicated that over time, the mundane organizational and operational stresses of the job can result in a variety of effects from psychological to physiological, and this stress can impact police performance and public safety. However, there remains an important gap in the current literature regarding the impact of stress on the decision-making style of police officers. Police officers often make split-second decisions that can affect their life, the public, and other …

Servant leadership is a management style in which one motivates his or her employees by serving them. The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate how 7 servant leadership dimensions exhibited by supervisors correlated with 5 conflict management styles used by employees when employees had a conflict with their supervisor. A web-based survey invitation was shared with …
The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Tragic, life-changing, and fatal incidents are a reality on large-scale, civil construction projects. Despite a decline following the enforcement of the 1971 Occupational Safety and Health Act, serious and fatal incidents on heavy construction projects remain higher than that of the active military and have not declined in any notable way in the past decade. Industrial-organizational literature suggested a lack of applied testing for the well-developed theory of authentic leadership (AL) to impact safety outcomes. This quasi-experiment combined the constructs of authentic leadership with safety climate perception as quantifiable measurement of potential safety outcomes in the workplace. The research question …
