The Intellectual Property Forum and Technology Expo, scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Jackson, is being postponed because of the impending landfall of Hurricane Ivan. The forum was set for the Marriott Downtown Jackson, but organizers were concerned for the safety of participants traveling from other areas of the state. A new date for the event will be announced later.

OXFORD, Miss. - It's perhaps a safe bet that most students from the universities of Mississippi and Alabama who were in Tuscaloosa for Saturday night's football match between the two schools were not up early Saturday morning volunteering at community service sites. But some 100 students from the two schools were doing just that, thanks to a joint effort between the Department of Student Housing and Residence Life at Ole Miss and the Office of Residential Life at UA.

OXFORD, Miss. – A record 16,498 students are enrolled this fall at the University of Mississippi, according to figures released Saturday. The total unduplicated headcount represents 945 more students enrolled this fall than last on UM's Oxford, Tupelo and Southaven campuses and University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson – a 6.1 percent increase.
