Integration Of Algae And Biomass Processes To Synthesize Renewable Bioproducts For The Circular Economy, Jessica Martin
Integration Of Algae And Biomass Processes To Synthesize Renewable Bioproducts For The Circular Economy, Jessica Martin
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Rapid population growth and global industrialization have substantially heightened the demand for fossil-based fuels and products in various sectors of the global economy, including energy production, transportation fuels, and as raw materials for petrochemicals. The intense consumption of fossil fuels has caused immense environmental impacts, especially pertaining to carbon dioxide emissions. Shifting to renewable feedstocks (raw materials) is expected to reduce these emissions by lowering the carbon footprint of fuels and products compared to traditional fossil-derived alternatives. This transition aligns with the goal of creating a sustainable and circular economy, emphasizing efficient resource use, and reducing waste generation through recycling …

Evaluating The Responsiveness Of Urban Security In The University Area, Varshini Renikunta
Evaluating The Responsiveness Of Urban Security In The University Area, Varshini Renikunta
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Perceptions of safety within one's neighborhood can significantly impact overall health. While certain neighborhood features like broken sidewalks, crime rates, and visible disorder can influence these perceptions, the exact interplay of these factors remains unclear, especially among individuals with disabilities who might perceive themselves at greater risk. Individuals typically opt for routes and spaces they deem safe in the built environment, such as well-lit pathways, areas next to lively storefronts instead of closed facades, or routes that steer clear of potentially unsafe building entrances. How individuals navigate and interact with their surroundings is intrinsically tied to their cognitive perceptions shaped …
Evaluating Self-Monitoring Of Performance With A Peer Component On Disruptive Behavior And Task Completion Of Students With Emotional And Behavioral Disorder, Isabella Gural
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Students with emotional and behavioral disorder (EBD) often face a lot of struggles in the classroom (Didion et al., 2018). This can lead to these individuals not finishing school, not getting jobs, etc (Cumblad et al., 1995). Not only is it an issue for the students themselves, but they often engage in disruptive behaviors that disturb their peers and RBTs (Adera & Bullock, 2010; Gottfried & Harven, 2014). Many interventions have been used to increase academic engagement and decrease disruptive behaviors in the classroom for students with EBD, including self-monitoring strategies and peer-mediated interventions. However, regarding studies evaluating self-monitoring interventions …

In Silico And In Vitro Drug Discovery Strategies And The Chemical Investigation Of Endophytic Fungi, Sarah Grace Dietrick
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The biodiversity of our global marine ecosystems provides substantial treasure to discover: chemistry. Marine organisms that live in proximity to one another use their unique chemistry to compete with one another and thrive in their environment. Benthic invertebrates, specifically, that lack physical means of protection will produce secondary metabolites as a means of defense from their surroundings and predators. The compounds which they produce are ordinarily species-specific, highly diverse biomolecules. Biosynthetic processes within an organism construct these secondary metabolites from fragments of primary metabolites (amino acids, fatty acids, sugars, and so on). Their roles in protection have antibiotic, toxic, and …

Becoming What One Is: Nietzsche And Buddhism - A Transcultural Perspective, Sarah Linda Jacob
Becoming What One Is: Nietzsche And Buddhism - A Transcultural Perspective, Sarah Linda Jacob
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) prophetically called himself an untimely philosopher. But what inspired this untimely genius? In what follows, I argue that Nietzsche’s philosophical departure from the Western metaphysical and epistemological tradition marks a paradigm shift enabled by the European encounter with the East. My thought is that the “untimely” philosopher was very timely—timelier than his educators and philosophical compadres—because he recognized that the Western religious and philosophical system would be, and had to be, forever altered due to the confrontation with new ontological horizons enabled by new, wholly foreign, perspectives. My argument is founded upon the historical significance of India …

Motivations For Planning: Uncovering The Inhibitors To The Adoption Of Comprehensive Financial Planning For Business Owners, Daniel R. Gilham
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Though comprehensive financial planning is well-known terminology, it is not a well-known or adopted concept. Broadly, financial planning is associated with investment management, but this approach is changing. Most research on financial planning is confined to the benefits, or process, behind planning. For business owners, coordinated, comprehensive financial planning should include the founder’s largest, most concentrated financial asset, the business they are running. The underlying motivations and bias that inhibit business owners from engaging in a comprehensive financial planning relationship has not been heavily researched. In this dissertation, I studied business owner inhibitors to the adoption of comprehensive financial planning …
The Functions Of Oligodendrocyte Lineage-Derived Laminins Under Homeostatic And Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Stroke Conditions, Minkyung Kang
The Functions Of Oligodendrocyte Lineage-Derived Laminins Under Homeostatic And Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Stroke Conditions, Minkyung Kang
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Oligodendrocyte lineage is a glial cell population in the central nervous system. The lineage starts with oligodendrocyte precursor cells, which differentiate and mature into mature oligodendrocytes. Myelination, the major function of mature oligodendrocytes, plays a significant role for normal function of the central nervous system, and its dysfunction leads to many demyelinating diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. During the lineage progression, an extracellular matrix protein, laminin, actively regulates the cells' biology, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and myelination. However, the cellular sources of the laminin that controls oligodendrocyte lineage cells remain largely unknown. Interestingly, previous studies have shown that oligodendrocyte lineage …
