How Corporate Social Responsibility Influences Employee Job Satisfaction In The Hotel Industry, Chia-Chun Saprina Chiang
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether strategic CSR programs in the hotel industry influence individual job satisfaction. Based on Valentine and Fleischman’s study in company ethics programs and employees’ perceived CSR, job satisfaction is related to many significant organizational factors and is usually a major concentration of business research that investigates employee-based phenomena (Valentine & Fleischman, 2008, p. 160). In addition, this paper will seek for the literature supporting the positive correlation between a company’s strategic CSR activities and its employees’ job satisfaction. Attitudes Towards Megan's Law And Juvenile Sex Offenders, Debra Lee Cochrane
Attitudes Towards Megan's Law And Juvenile Sex Offenders, Debra Lee Cochrane
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Sex offender registration laws are very controversial. All fifty states require adult sex offenders to register. Twenty-eight states have extended registration and community notification requirements to juveniles (Hiller, 1998). These states seem to have failed to look at the uniqueness of juvenile sex offending. Juveniles have a very low recidivism rate and complex issues of culpability from age-of-consent laws. Applying Megan's Law to juveniles could have considerable negative consequences for juveniles' social development, particularly because one of the main stipulations of the law requires the juvenile to notify their school. Rehabilitation is a key factor of the juvenile justice system …

Processor Allocator For Chip Multiprocessors, Dawid Maksymilian Zydek
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Chip MultiProcessor (CMP) architectures consisting of many cores connected through Network-on-Chip (NoC) are becoming main computing platforms for research and computer centers, and in the future for commercial solutions. In order to effectively use CMPs, operating system is an important factor and it should support a multiuser environment in which many parallel jobs are executed simultaneously. It is done by the processor management system of the operating system, which consists of two components: Job Scheduler (JS) and Processor Allocator (PA). The JS is responsible for job scheduling that deals with selection of the next job to be executed, while the …
Dla-Lbg Cross-Correlation And Basic Properties Of Infrared Galaxies In Cosmological Simulations, Tae Song Lee
Dla-Lbg Cross-Correlation And Basic Properties Of Infrared Galaxies In Cosmological Simulations, Tae Song Lee
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
PART I
We calculate the cross-correlation function (CCF) between damped Ly-alpha systems (DLAs) and Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) using cosmological hydrodynamic simulations at z = 3. We compute the CCF with two different methods. First, we assume that there is one DLA in each dark matter halo if its DLA cross section is non-zero. In our second approach we weight the pair-count by the DLA cross section of each halo, yielding a cross-section-weighted CCF. We also compute the angular CCF for direct comparison with observations. Finally, we calculate the auto-correlation functions of LBGs and DLAs, and their bias against the …

By the late 1980’s gaming revenue in Las Vegas was down as other areas in the country started to legalize gambling. Democracy has long been an important concept in the study of politics and environmental protection is an increasingly important issue in world politics. Advocates of democracy claim democratic states are better able to protect the environment than non-democracies. In contrast there are those that argue democracy's emphasis on individual rights leads to excessive resource consumption. This thesis employs a mixed methods approach to determine if democratic countries protect the environment more than their non-democratic counterparts. In short democracies do protect the environment better than non-democracies …

The experiments used KMnO4 as the source of Mn and the resulting Birnessite and Cryptomelane precipitates were washed with 18 Mn/cm NANOpure water at the end of syntheses. Several state-of-the-art solid state techniques were used to characterize the Mn-based oxide mineral phases. Based on the literature …

Hofstede defined “culture” as a collective programming of the human mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from …

Results in the present study were largely consistent with Doucette (1992) and Jones-Forrester (2006) but substantially different from beliefs about inner experience from the extant non-exploratory DES BN literature.
