Special Proper Pointwise Slant Surfaces Of A Locally Product Riemannian Manifold, Mehmet Gülbahar, Erol Kiliç, Semra Saraçoğlu Çeli̇k

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The structure of pointwise slant submanifolds in an almost product Riemannian manifold is investigated and the special proper pointwise slant surfaces of a locally product manifold are introduced. A relation involving the squared mean curvature and the Gauss curvature of pointwise slant surface of a locally product manifold is proved. Two examples of proper pointwise slant surfaces of a locally product manifold, one of which is special and the other one is not special, are given.

On The Classification Of Almost Null Rings, Ryszard Andruszkiewicz, Karol Pryszczepko

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

An almost null ring is a ring $R$ in which for all $a,b\in R$, $a^3=0$, $Ma^2=0$ for some square-free integer $M$ that depends on $a$ and $ab= ka^{2}=l b^{2}$ for some integers $k,l$. This paper is devoted to the classification of the almost null rings.

Optimality Criteria For Sum Of Fractional Multiobjective Optimization Problem With Generalized Invexity, Deepak Bhati, Pitam Singh Jan 2015

Optimality Criteria For Sum Of Fractional Multiobjective Optimization Problem With Generalized Invexity, Deepak Bhati, Pitam Singh

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The sum of a fractional program is a nonconvex optimization problem in the field of fractional programming and it is difficult to solve. The development of research is restricted to single objective sums of fractional problems only. The branch and bound methods/algorithms are developed in the literature for this problem as a single objective problem. The theoretical and algorithmic development for sums of fractional programming problems is restricted to single objective problems. In this paper, some new optimality conditions are proposed for the sum of a fractional multiobjective optimization problem with generalized invexity. The optimality conditions are obtained by using …

Some Properties Of A Class Of Analytic Functions Defined Bygeneralized Struve Functions, Mohsan Raza, Ni̇hat Yağmur

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The aim of this paper is to define \ a new operator by using the generalized Struve functions $\sum\limits_{n=0}^{\infty }\frac{\left( -c/4\right) ^{n}}{\left( 3/2\right) _{n}\left( k\right) _{n}}z^{n+1}$ with $% k$ $=p+$ $\left( b+2\right) /2\neq 0,-1,-2,\ldots $ and $b,c,k\in \mathbb{C} $. By using this operator we define a subclass of analytic functions. We discuss some properties of this class such as inclusion problems, radius problems, and some other interesting properties related to this operator.

Some Concrete Operators And Their Properties, Mehmet Gürdal, Mubariz T. Garayev, Suna Saltan

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We consider integration and double integration operators, the Hardy operator, and multiplication and composition operators on Lebesgue space $L_{p}\left[ 0,1\right] $ and Sobolev spaces $W_{p}^{\left( n\right) }\left[ 0,1\right] $ and $W_{p}^{\left( n\right) }\left( \left[ 0,1\right] \times\left[ 0,1\right] \right) ,$ and we study their properties. In particular, we calculate norm and spectral multiplicity of the Hardy operator and some multiplication operators, investigate its extended eigenvectors, characterize some composition operators in terms of the extended eigenvectors of the Hardy operator, and calculate the numerical radius of the integration operator on the real $L_{2}\left[ 0,1\right] $ space. The main method for our investigation …

Approximation Properties Of Szász Type Operators Based On Charlier Polynomials, Arun Kajla, Purshottam Narain Agrawal

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In the present paper, we study some approximation properties of the Sz\'{a}sz type operators involving Charlier polynomials introduced by Varma and Ta\c{s}delen in 2012. First, we establish approximation in a Lipschitz type space and weighted approximation theorems for these operators. Then we obtain the error in the approximation of functions having derivatives of bounded variation.

Magnetic Curves On Flat Para-K\"Ahler Manifolds, Mohamed Jleli, Marian Ioan Munteanu

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper we prove that spacelike and timelike magnetic trajectories corresponding to the para-K\"ahler 2-form on a para-K\"ahler manifold $(M,\p,g)$ are circles on $M$. We then classify all para-K\"ahler magnetic curves in pseudo-Euclidean spaces ${\mathbb{E}}^{2n}_n$.

A Decomposition Of Transferable Utility Games: Structure Of Transferable Utility Games, Ayşe Mutlu Derya Jan 2015

A Decomposition Of Transferable Utility Games: Structure Of Transferable Utility Games, Ayşe Mutlu Derya

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We define a decomposition of transferable utility games based on shifting the worth of the grand coalition so that the associated game has a nonempty core. We classify the set of all transferable utility games based on that decomposition and analyze their structure. Using the decomposition and the notion of minimal balanced collections, we give a set of necessary and sufficient conditions for a transferable utility game to have a singleton core.

Equivalencies Between Beta-Shifts And S-Gap Shifts, Dawoud Ahmadi Dastjerdi, Somayyeh Jangjoo Shaldehi Jan 2015

Equivalencies Between Beta-Shifts And S-Gap Shifts, Dawoud Ahmadi Dastjerdi, Somayyeh Jangjoo Shaldehi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let X_{\beta} be a \beta -shift for \beta \in (1, 2] and X(S) a S-gap shift for S\subseteq N \cup {0}. We show that if X_\beta is SFT (resp. sofic), then there is a unique S-gap shift conjugate (resp. right-resolving almost conjugate) to this X_\beta, and if X_\beta is not SFT, then no S-gap shift is conjugate to X_\beta. For any synchronized X_{\beta} , an X(S) exists such that X_{\beta} and X(S) have a common synchronized 1-1 a.e. extension. For a nonsynchronized X_\beta, this common extension is just an almost Markov synchronized system with entropy preserving maps. We then compute …

Od-Characterization Of Some Alternating Groups, Shitian Liu Jan 2015

Od-Characterization Of Some Alternating Groups, Shitian Liu

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let $G$ be a finite group. Moghaddamfar et al. defined prime graph $\Gamma(G)$ of group $G$ as follows. The vertices of $\Gamma(G)$ are the primes dividing the order of $G$ and two distinct vertices $p,q$ are joined by an edge, denoted by $p\sim q$, if there is an element in $G$ of order $pq$. Assume $ G =p_{1}^{\alpha_{1}}\cdots p_{k}^{\alpha_{k}}$ with $P_{1}$ <$\cdots$&\lt;$p_{k}$ and nature numbers $\alpha_{i}$ with $i=1,2,\cdots,k$. For $p\in\pi(G)$, let the degree of $p$ be $\deg(p)= \{q\in\pi(G)\mid q\sim p\} $, and $D(G)=(\deg(p_{1}), \deg(p_{2}), \cdots, \deg(p_{k}))$. Denote by $\pi(G)$ the set of prime divisor of $ G $. Let $GK(G)$ be the graph with vertex set $\pi(G)$ such that two primes $p$ and $q$ in $\pi(G)$ are joined by an edge if $G$ has an element of order $p\cdot q$. We set $s(G)$ to denote the number of connected components of the prime graph $GK(G)$. Some authors proved some groups are $OD$-characterizable with $s(G)\geq2$. Then for $s(G)=1$, what is the influence of $OD$ on the structure of groups? We knew that the alternating groups $A_{p+3}$, where $7\neq p\in\pi(100!)$, $A_{130}$ and $A_{140}$ are $OD$-characterizable. Therefore, we naturally ask the following question: if $s(G)=1$, then is there a group $OD$-characterizable? In this note, we give a characterization of $A_{p+3}$ except $A_{10}$ with $s(A_{p+3})=1$, by $OD$, which gives a positive answer to Moghaddamfar and Rahbariyan's conjecture.

The Strong ``Zero-Two" Law For Positive Contractions Of Banach--Kantorovich $L_P$-Lattices, Inomjon Ganiev, Farrukh Mukhamedov, Dilmurod Bekbaev

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In the present paper we study dominated operators acting on Banach--Kantorovich $L_p$-lattices, constructed by a measure $m$ with values in the ring of all measurable functions. Using methods of measurable bundles of Banach--Kantorovich lattices, we prove the strong ``zero-two" law for positive contractions of Banach--Kantorovich $L_p$-lattices. \vspace{1mm}

Moduli Spaces Of Arrangements Of 11 Projective Lines With A Quintuple Point, Meirav Amram, Cheng Gong, Mina Teicher, Wan-Yuan Xu

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we try to classify moduli spaces of arrangements of 11 lines with quintuple points. We show that moduli spaces of arrangements of 11 lines with quintuple points can consist of more than 2 connected components. We also present defining equations of the arrangements whose moduli spaces are not irreducible after taking quotients by the complex conjugation by Maple and supply some "potential Zariski pairs".

On Pseudohyperbolic Space Motions, Tunahan Turhan, Nural Yüksel, Ni̇hat Ayyildiz

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In the present paper, the geometrical instantaneous invariants of the motion $H_{_{m}}/H_{_{f}}\ $in dual Lorentzian $3$-space are determined. Depending on this, the dual Lorentzian instantaneous screw axis of the motion of $K_{_{m}}$ with respect to the dual pseudohyperbolic space $K_{_{m}}$ is constructed. On the other hand, we show that, in each position of $H_{_{m}}$, the fixed and moving axodes have the instantaneous screw axis of this position in common. We also give relations between the geodetic curvature and the curvature of the polodes.

Planar Embedding Of Trees On Point Sets Without The General Position Assumption, Asghar Asgharian Sardroud, Alireza Bagheri Jan 2015

Planar Embedding Of Trees On Point Sets Without The General Position Assumption, Asghar Asgharian Sardroud, Alireza Bagheri

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The problem of point-set embedding of a planar graph $G$ on a point set $P$ in the plane is defined as finding a straight-line planar drawing of $G$ such that the nodes of $G$ are mapped one to one on the points of $P$. Previous works in this area mostly assume that the points of $P$ are in general position, i.e. $P$ does not contain any three collinear points. However, in most of the real applications we cannot assume the general position assumption. In this paper, we show that deciding the point-set embeddability of trees without the general position assumption …

Coloring Hypercomplete And Hyperpath Graphs, Yusuf Ci̇van, Demet Taylan

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Given a graph G with an induced subgraph H and a family F of graphs, we introduce a (hyper)graph H_H(G;F)=(V_H, E_H), the hyper-H (hyper)graph of G with respect to F, whose vertices are induced copies of H in G, and \{H_1,H_2,\ldots,H_r\} \in E_H if and only if the induced subgraph of G by the set \cup_{i=1}^r H_i is isomorphic to a graph F in the family F, and the integer r is the least integer for F with this property. When H is a k-complete or a k-path of G, we abbreviate H_{K_k}(G;F) and H_{P_k}(G;F) to H_k(G;F) and HP_k(G;F), respectively. …

Euler-Seidel Matrices Over F_P, Nesri̇n Tutaş Jan 2014

Euler-Seidel Matrices Over F_P, Nesri̇n Tutaş

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

A Euler--Seidel matrix is determined by an infinite sequence whose elements are given by recursion. The recurrence relations are investigated for numbers and polynomials such as hyperharmonics, Lucas numbers, and Euler and Genocchi polynomials. Linear recurring sequences in finite fields are employed, for instance, in coding theory and in several branches of electrical engineering. In this work, we define the period of a Euler--Seidel matrix over a field F_p with p elements, where p is a prime number. We give some results for the matrix whose initial sequence is \{s_r(n)\}_{n=0}^{\infty}, where s_r(n)=\sum_{k=0}^n {\binom{n}{k}}^r, n \geq 0, and r is a …

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let R be a coordinate ring of an affine irreducible curve represented by \frac{k[x_1,x_2,...,x_s]}{(f)} and m be a maximal ideal of R. In this article, the Betti series of \Omega_2(R_m) is studied. We proved that the Betti series of \Omega_2(R_m), where \Omega_2(R_m) denotes the universal module of second order derivations of R_m, is a rational function under some conditions.

Some Results On T-Noncosingular Modules, Rachid Tribak

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The notion of T-noncosingularity of a module has been introduced and studied recently. In this article, a number of new results of this property are provided. It is shown that over a commutative semilocal ring R such that Jac(R) is a nil ideal, every T-noncosingular module is semisimple. We prove that for a perfect ring R, the class of T-noncosingular modules is closed under direct sums if and only if R is a primary decomposable ring. Finitely generated T-noncosingular modules over commutative rings are shown to be precisely those having zero Jacobson radical. We also show that for a simple …

A Class Of Uniquely (Strongly) Clean Rings, Orhan Gürgün, Ayşe Çi̇ğdem Özcan

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper we call a ring R \delta_r-clean if every element is the sum of an idempotent and an element in \delta(R_R) where \delta(R_R) is the intersection of all essential maximal right ideals of R. If this representation is unique (and the elements commute) for every element we call the ring uniquely (strongly) \delta_r-clean. Various basic characterizations and properties of these rings are proved, and many extensions are investigated and many examples are given. In particular, we see that the class of \delta_r-clean rings lies between the class of uniquely clean rings and the class of exchange rings, and …

On 2 Nonsplit Extension Groups Associated With Hs And Hs:2, Jamshid Moori, Thekiso Seretlo

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The group HS:2 is the full automorphism group of the Higman--Sims group HS. The groups 2^{4.}S_6 and 2^{5.}S_6 are maximal subgroups of HS and HS:2, respectively. The group 2^{4.}S_6 is of order 11520 and 2^{5.}S_6 is of order 23040 and each of them is of index 3 850 in HS and HS:2, respectively. The aim of this paper is to first construct \overline{G} = 2^{5.}S_6 as a group of the form 2^{4.}S_6.2 (that is, \overline{G} = G_1.2) and then compute the character tables of these 2 nonsplit extension groups by using the method of Fischer--Clifford theory. We will show that …
