Because plants show a wide range of variation in growth in the presence of excessive concentrations of soluble salts in the soil, this study was undertaken to determine the effects of various concentrations of NaCL and Na2SO4 on the growth and development of Hordeum jubatum, Agropyron trachycaulum, and the natural hybrid of these two plants, Elymus macounii.

Fatigue fracture usually is defined as the failure of a part at a stress below its breaking stress due to repetitive loading conditions. It is now a well known fact that a part, designed for a maximum stress well below the yield point of the material, may be very apt to fail under cyclic loading conditions over a period of time. The metal appears to "wear out" after a time just like humans do and fatigue failure occurs. Thirty male high school students were tested in an attempt to determine whether there were any significant differences in dynamic balance among selected American Negroes, American Indians and American Caucasians.
Subjects selected were seventeen years of age or older, with good eyesight and hearing, and with varied backgrounds in sports skills.
The Bass Test of Dynamic Balance was used as the instrument to measure dynamic equilibrium. The t test was used to test the null hypothesis, and the .01 level of significance was established as the criterion. The Indian subjects were tested during the summer of 1961, the Negroes in …

During the spring of 1941, Dr. C.L. Hayward, of the Brigham Young University zoology department, while on a field trip with his ecology class found some interesting planaria.ns at a place called Stewart's Flats on Mt. Timpanogos, Utah County, Utah. A fellow teacher, Dr. D. E. Beck, sent live specimens to Dr. L. H. Hyman of the American Museum of Natural History for identification. Although the specimens arrived in New York as a "putrid smelling soup,"1 the specimens, through correspondence, were thought to be Polycelis coronata (Girard), the same species Hyman collected in South Dakota during August 1929.

The McCune School of Music and Art was a private institution, owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. Located at First North and Main Streets, the School offered outstanding courses in music, dance, art, speech and dramatics. From 1917 until 1919 the institution was part of the Latter-day Saints High School music department under the direction of B. Cecil Gates. Following 1919 the organization became the Latter-day Saints School of Music, offering courses above the high school level. During Tracy Y. It is common knowledge that the practice of improvisation, variation, and ornamentation was widespread during the late Renaissance. Numerous authors testify to this, and scores of manuals exist that ''teach11 this particular skill. One of the most important theorists to write such a manual was Lodovico Zacconi, a monk of the order of Saint Augustine. Chapter LXVI of Part I of his Prattica di Musica is one of the most detailed of its kind. In order to assess the feasibility of aerobic digestion for the disposal of potato waste effluents, a prepared potato waste stream was processed in an activated sludge system. The waste was contacted with oxygen in an aerator, effluent from which was discharged to a settling cone of equal volume. A dilute product was discharged from the cop of the cone and a concentrated sludge stream from the bottom was recycled to the aerator.
Wastes contain 1750 and 3500 milligrams per liter of potato solids were fed at rates of 2 and 4 times the aerator volume per day, with a …

This thesis is a study of vertebrate distribution in relation to certain habitats in cetral Kane County, Utah. Four areas were trapped, two in a sagebrush community and two in a grassland community. Oryzopsis hymenoides (Roem & Shult.) Ricker, Hilaria jamesii (Torr) Benth., Ephedra torreyana S. Watts and Guttierrezia sarothrae (Purah.) Britt and Rusby, were the dominant plants in the grassland community. The dominant plants in the sagebrush community were Artemisia tridentata Nutt., and Hilaria jamesii (Torr.) Benth. Dipodomys ordii cupidineus Goldman was the most common mammal trapped in both communities. Peromyscus maniculatus sonoriensis (LeConte) was trapped most often in …
