Characterization Of Selectively Modified Chymotrypsins And Their Specificity Towards Dipeptide Substrates., Nat Jorn Suwarnasarn

Theses and Dissertations

The 15 surface carboxyl groups in alpha-chymotrypsin first were modified with glycine ethyl ester (Gly-OEt) and taurine (Tau) at pH 4 using carbodiimide (EDC) reagent to give G(,15)-Chy and T(,15)-Chy, respectively. These enzymes (Chy-15) were remodified using norleucine methyl ester (Nle-OMe) as a tag in the presence of 8M urea. The analytical determination of the Nle-OMe tag was done by amino acid analysis and showed 1.5 and 2 moles of Nle per mole of T(,15)-Chy and G(,15)-Chy, respectively. Initial modification of alpha-chymotrypsin in the presence of 3M urea using Tau and Gly-OEt show 15.8 and 16 moles of Tau and …

By looking at the ways in which the various authors present holy men and holy women, showing the positions and roles the saints had in both religious and secular society, the way they lived and the way they died, the dissertation shows that the sex-determined roles varied from author to author and age …

Four models of parental identification (perceived similarity with father, perceived similarity with mother, agreement with important parental values and agreement with more trivial parental values) were constructed. The effects of several parenting behaviors (i.e., support, undifferentiated control, guilt and love withdrawl) as well as various structural variables upon the parental identification of a sample of LDS adolescent males were tested. Data were obtained from 565 adolescents and their parents and the data for each boy was linked with that of his parents.

Parental support and family religious and recreational activities were found to be the most reliable predictors of parental …
