The Effect Of Defense Management Review Decision 904, Stock Funding Depot Level Reparables, On Cash Flow Within The Reparable Support Division Of The Air Force Stock Fund, Deborah A. Elliot
Theses and Dissertations
This study investigated what the potential cash flow condition of the Reparable Support Division of the Air Force Stock Fund might be after final implementation of the procedures outlined in Defense Management Review Decision 904, Stock Funding Depot Level Reparables. The operation of the future Reparable Support Division was modelled using the General Purpose Simulation Software (GPSS/H) package and future cash flow conditions were projected through use of this model. Recommendations were then made based on the results of these projections and based on other data gathered during the course of the research process.
An Investigation Of The Adequacy Of Air Force Regulations Guiding The Development And Procurement Of Software User Manuals, Amy M. Baines
An Investigation Of The Adequacy Of Air Force Regulations Guiding The Development And Procurement Of Software User Manuals, Amy M. Baines
Theses and Dissertations
As the Air Force increases its emphasis on controlling the cost and quality of software development, it's important to ensure that the documentation to support that software is also quality controlled. This research evaluated the adequacy of current regulations by comparing the process for developing Air Force software manuals with the process for developing similar types of user manuals, both within and outside of the Air Force. A comparison to the regulations guiding the development of Air Force Technical Orders revealed that the requirements for software manuals are unclear, dispersed through numerous regulations, and at times contradictory from one regulation …
Collisional Dynamics Of The B3Π(O+) State Of Bromine Of Monofluoride, David W. Melton
Collisional Dynamics Of The B3Π(O+) State Of Bromine Of Monofluoride, David W. Melton
Theses and Dissertations
When Bromine is combined with flourine atoms and discharged oxygen in a flow tube is produced in a highly non thermal distribution peaking at v'=3. The emission was linearly dependent on the concentration. The observed dependence of the BrF(B) emission on Bromine and atomic oxygen is inconsistent with a steady state prediction of a sequential excitation mechanism, where BrF(X) is excited by successive collisions with singlet oxygen. The experimental data are consistent with a three body mechanism involving Br and F atoms. Electronic quenching of BrF(B) by a number of collision partners (Br2, CO2, O2 …

The Use Of Transition Metal Complexes For The Construction Of Unusual Metal-Modified Phosphorus Linkages Between Nucleosides., Theresa Jo Schmaltz
The Use Of Transition Metal Complexes For The Construction Of Unusual Metal-Modified Phosphorus Linkages Between Nucleosides., Theresa Jo Schmaltz
Theses and Dissertations
Oligonucleotides based on methyl phosphonate linkages between nucleoside units have been of particular interest as anti-sense molecules for inhibiting mRNA function. The focus of our research has been on the development of new construction techniques for anti-sense oligonucleotides. Specifically we have been investigating new methods for generating iron and cobalt-modified linkages in oligonucleotides during the course of automated synthesis. We have found that (dicarbonyl)($\eta\sp5$-cyclopentadienyl)($\eta\sp2$-ethylene)iron reacts with 5$\sp\prime$-O-dimethoxytritylnucleoside 3$\sp\prime$-phosphite esters to yield (dicarbonyl)($\eta\sp5$-cyclopentadienyl)iron(ethyl)phosphonates. These phosphonates appear to be stable to the conditions commonly used to construct oligonucleotides by phosphoramidite methodology. This chemistry has been extended to the formation of a dimer on …

(2) What environmental factors contributed to the development of children's thoughts and ideas? The thinking of nine first graders was described by semantic maps, direct observation, video and audio tapes, and analyzed using the categories of Bloom's Taxonomy and Tough's …
The Interaction Of Parishioner Gender And The Pedestal Effect As Influences Upon The Friendships Of Catholic And Protestant Clergy., Nanette Marie Matthews
The Interaction Of Parishioner Gender And The Pedestal Effect As Influences Upon The Friendships Of Catholic And Protestant Clergy., Nanette Marie Matthews
Theses and Dissertations
The present investigation employed Wright's self-referent model of relationships in the examination of clerical friendships. It was hypothesized that the pedestal effect would be strongest for Catholic women, followed by Protestant women, Catholic men, and Protestant men, and that this variable would be inversely related to the total relationship index obtained from parishioners, the level of acquaintanceship as indicated by parishioners, and the total relationship index completed by clergy/controls toward their best friends. Hypotheses were offered regarding certain scales from the Acquaintance Description Form-Final (ADF-F). It was expected that utility and security values would tend to be high for clergy, …

A Multiple Model Adaptive Estimator Using First And Second-Order Acceleration Models For Use In A Forward-Looking Infrared Tracker, Barbara J. Niblett
Theses and Dissertations
The performance of a multiple model adaptive estimator (MMAE) for an enhanced correlator/forward-looking-infrared tracker for airborne targets is analyzed in order to improve its performance. Performance evaluation is based on elemental filter selection and MMAE estimation error sizes and trends. The elemental filters are based on either first or second-order acceleration models. Improved filter selection is achieved by using acceleration models that separate the frequency content of acceleration power spectral densities into non- overlapping regions with second-order models versus the more traditional overlapping regions with first-order models. A revised tuning method is presented. The maximum a posteriori (MAP) versus the …

Investigation Of Adaptive Controllers For Puma Trajectory Tracking, Daniel J. Sims
Investigation Of Adaptive Controllers For Puma Trajectory Tracking, Daniel J. Sims
Theses and Dissertations
Two robust model-based controllers and two decentralized adaptive controllers are experimentally evaluated. Algorithm evaluation is motivated by the need for controllers with good high speed tracking under varying payload conditions. The test case is a PUMA-560 robotic manipulator operating over the standard test suite. The model-based controllers are made robust by the addition of either an auxiliary input term or an adaptive feedforward compensator based on Lyapunov Theory. The model-based auxiliary input controller (MBAIC) adapts the gain matrices used in computing an additional torque to be combined with model-based feedforward and PD feedback torques. The adaptive model-based controllers adapt the …
An Alternative Algorithm For Discrete-Time Filtering, Frederick H. Zeitz Iii
An Alternative Algorithm For Discrete-Time Filtering, Frederick H. Zeitz Iii
Theses and Dissertations
The discrete-time Kalman filter is a conditional mean estimator of the states of a linear stochastic process, conditioned on the previous state and current measurements. It assumes that the states and noise inputs can be represented as jointly Gaussian random variables. The influence diagram is a decision analysis tool. Under certain conditions, it can represent continuous, jointly Gaussian random variables. The conditioning order of the random variables may be changed (using Bayes' rule) so that any random variable can be conditioned on any other subset of random variables in the diagram. Under these conditions, an influence diagram can represent the …

Alice L. Milligan: The Celtic Twilight's Forgotten Star, Kathryn J. O'Hehir
Theses and Dissertations
During the course of a historical examination of any given time period, persons and events are remembered in some texts and forgotten in others. The historical process of selection and rejection of materials is, in itself, the subject of much study. This study unearths a forgotten turn of the century Irish patriot named Alice L. Milligan, a Protestant nationalist writer from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
She is worthy of study in that she breaks traditional sectarian lines still drawn in Ireland today, where the stereotype prevails that only Catholics desire a reunited Ireland, with Protestants desiring inclusion with Great Britain. …
