Field Independence And Cognitive Flexibility In Creative Test Performance, Joel Patrick Newman

Much research in recent years has been devoted to the identification and measurement of creative abilities. It was postulated that Werner's orthogenetic principle, in which development is conceptualized as proceeding from a state of relative lack of differentiation of functions to a state of increasing differentiation, articulation, and hierarchic integration of functions, might be applied to cognitive development in order to provide a useful model for investigating such abilities. A parallel interest of the investigator was the use of the Stroop Color-Word Test as a measure of hierarchic integration of cognitive functions (here called cognitive flexibility).

A general overview of the development of an Annual Cycle Energy System is discussed. System selection criteria is also presented. The development of a modification procedure for a commercially available reversing heat pump to a series dual evaporator, heating-only heat pump is discussed. The procedure is presented as a step by step method for sizing the components in the system. The procedure was used to size the components in the modification of a Janitorial five ton reversing heat pump.

The object of this research paper is to develop a practical method of presenting the results of agricultural research to North Dakota farmers, An alternative method is suggested for presenting the results of a Duncan's multiple range test subsequent to a rejection of the null hypothesis of a 2-way analysis of variance.

Recrop data for 6 crop varieties and 1 set of data which includes some experimental varieties of Durum, grown on fallow, are statistically analyzed.

Recommendations are made for further research specifically, regression analysis to aid farmers in choosing the best crop varieties for their area of North Dakota

A Geomagnetic Survey Of Pembina, Grand Forks, And Eastern Walsh Counties, North Dakota, Howard E. Okland

From August, 1977, to March, 1978, total field geomagnetic readings were taken at 948 sites in the following counties in North Dakota: Pembina County, Grand Forks County, and Walsh County east of 98°W. longitude. The field data was contoured by computer using the SYMAP commercial computer program. Nine major and several minor magnetic anomalies were discovered. Trends present on the aeromagnetic map of Minnesota continue westward into North Dakota. Limited bore hole data and the geomagnetic map suggest that the study area is underlain by Precatnbrian rocks of the Superior geologic province. Algal Response To A Thermal Effluent : Study Of A Power Station On The Provo River, Utah, Usa, Lorin E. Squires

The effect of a thermal effluent on the attached algae of the Provo River, Utah, USA, was studied from 1975 to 1977. Data for macroscopic and microscopic algae were collected and analyzed. Diatoms, Cladophora glomerata, and Hydrurus foetidus dominated the flora. The thermal effluent significantly affected the algal flora in a section of river 100 to 135 meters long immediately below the discharge point. Cladophora growth was increased and Hydrurus was absent in this area. In addition, diatom production was often higher and diversity lower than in the rest of the river. There has been a disparity between the conventional method of describing topographic surfaces (i.e. contour line definition) and a format of surface description often used in continuous-line computer graphics (i.e. panel definition). The two differ enough that conversion from contours to panels is not a trivial problem. A computer program that performs such a conversion would greatly facilitate continuous tone display of topographical surfaces, or any other surface which is defined by contour lines.

This problem has been addressed by Keppel and alluded to by Fuchs. Keppel's is a highly systematic approach in which he uses graph theory to find …

This thesis deals with an evaluation of the University of North Dakota's marketing program. The evaluators are past marketing, retail merchandising, and distributive education students who graduated from UND during the years 1965 to 1974 and employers of these graduates.

Most graduates believed the objectives of marketing education had been accomplished. However, the graduates and employers of these graduates felt that more emphasis should be placed upon improving the communication and human relation abilities of students.

One rather consistent finding from field dependence studies is that males are more field independent, more articulated in their approach to certain perceptual tasks, than females. It appears that cultural factors and the encouragement of independent behavior are related to the development of field dependence or field independence. If society plays a role in the development of individual differences in field dependence, a change in society such as the present movement toward greater equality in sex roles could possibly influence sex differences in field dependence. Milton R. Young rose from the obscurity of a small farm in North Dakota to the prominence of a United States Senator. He began his political career as a member of the Henrietta Township Board, served one term in the North Dakota House of Representatives, three terms in the North Dakota Senate, and as of January 1, 1977, was the Republican Dean of the United States Senate.

A series of novel macrocyclic multidentate crown compounds have been prepared from a series of dioxodioic acids. The dioxodioic acids were prepared by treating various oligoethylene glycols or amines with maleic, succinic, citraconic, and glutaric anhydrides. The crown compounds were then synthesized from the dioxodioic acid chlorides obtained from the diacids and various oligoethylene glycols or ethylene diamine.

A Comparison Of The Age And Growth Of Yellow Perch, Perca Flavescens (Mitchill) In Lake Audubon And Lake Sakakawea, North Dakota, 1978, Steven W. Kelsch

The age and growth of yellow perch, Perca flavescens (Mitchill), were compared in two lakes which are part of a large Missouri River mainstem reservoir. Forty-five and one hundred and two perch were captured from Lake Sakakawea and Lake Audubon, respectively, by using experimental gill nets and frame fets. Longevity, condition, back- calculated annual growth, and length-weight relationships of the two perch populations were compared.

Studies of length-weight, annual growth, and condition revealed a relatively slow growth rate, reduced longevity, and poor condition in Lake Sakakawea; being on the order of a stunted population. Perch in Lake Audubon lived longer, …
