The purpose of this study is to examine the variables that are associated with sexually exploited juvenile girls in Contra Costa County, and offer rehabilitative services to these girls while they are detained in juvenile hall. This study used quantitative secondary data analysis collected from Contra Costa County Probation Department from December 2012 to April 2013. The data were collected from a random question survey of Probation Officers within this Department.

The purpose of this study was to train the parents of an ASD child (who was not receiving prior intervention services) to teach their child to use an Independent Activity Schedule (IAS) to enable him to engage in short periods of appropriate, independent play without adult prompting and/or disruptive, stereotypical behaviors. Teaching the parent (s) to utilize this technique will benefit the child in that his/her parent (s) are usually with him/her and would thus be able to use the IAS with him/her continuously.

The purpose of this study was to test specific hypotheses based on the Young Schema Model (YSM). In this model, poor parenting and traumatic events early in life result in maladaptive behaviors in adulthood. The present study tests the specific prediction that permissive parenting will have an indirect effect to increase procrastination by way of the intervening variables of entitlement/grandiosity and insufficient self-control/self-discipline cognitive schemas.

The purpose of this project was to provide high school teachers with training to increase their understanding of how research-based information can help them create classroom environments that nurture motivation in adolescents. Participating teachers completed a pre-test questionnaire to assess goal orientation, teacher efficacy, theory of intelligence, perceptions of the importance of knowledge regarding adolescent development, and autonomy-supportive attitudes and behaviors. Participants included 10 high school teachers from a suburban high school in Southern California.

The purpose of this ethnographic study is to examine the lived experiences of students attending a predominately Latino urban high school in the southwest region of the United States, using interviews, focus groups, and observations to gain an insight on student engagement and disengagement from school. This study examined coping skills and social support among women who experienced intimate partner violence (IPV). Intimate partner violence is a serious social problem. Women who are abused by an intimate partner are at higher risk for experiencing negative mental health outcomes, including depression and PTSD, substance abuse, and are also at risk for re-victimization than those who are not abused.

Behavioral sensitization is defined as an increase in behavioral responding that occurs after repeated administration of a psychostimulant. Behavioral sensitization is an important component of the addiction process that is mediated by different brain regions. This study will investigate the impact of client variables on in-treatment performance, in a contingency management intervention. Co-occurring disorders (COD) is a prolific problem with the severely mentally ill (SMI) population. People with both severe mental illness and substance abuse disorder suffer greater negative consequences of drug use than do populations with only one of these issues. This can be seen in greater levels of psychiatric symptoms, higher levels of interpersonal violence, and increased homelessness. Drug use has been found to exacerbate psychotic symptoms and relapses in schizophrenic patients, when compared to schizophrenic persons without drug use.

The purpose of this study is to add to the existing body of research on harmful leadership with a specific focus on the construct of toxic leadership. If toxic leader behavior is indeed sex-typed as masculine, as is leader behavior in general, there is a potential that women may also be devalued more harshly than men when behaving in a toxic manner.
