This thesis presents a systems approach to analyzing and redesigning referral and billing processes at St. Louis State Hospital in Missouri. Recognizing the growing complexity of hospital operations, the study applies systems theory to evaluate inefficiencies in the hospital’s referral program, particularly in its interactions with external agencies and community physicians. The hospital historically relied on manual procedures and fragmented communication methods that contributed to delays, inaccuracies, and underutilization of available resources.

In my work, in a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed children, I have observed that many, if not a majority, of the residents experience difficulty in learning . Emotionally disturbed children exhibit inappropriate emotional reactions which hinder their ability to make appropriate responses to their environment. Uhlin (1979), described their predicament as being unable to structure and maintain their experiences of reality. As a result, such children function in a distorted manner (Uhlin, 1979). This thesis describes an efficient procedure for calculating three dimensional resonant vibrations and stresses in intermediate and high pressure turbine blade groups. This procedure is capable of calculating all the natural frequencies, mode shapes, and bending stresses in the tangential, axial, and coupled modes of vibration. Simple beam theory is applied to develop a dynamic stiffness matrix. The solutions to this matrix give the natural frequencies and mode shapes for the blade group. A residential solar domestic hot water system utilizing tubular solar collectors is analyzed for climatic conditions typical of various regions of the Northeast. Experimentally determined system parameters are used in analytical simulations to compare the performance of systems using two different flat plate collectors to the system using the tubular type. A cost/benefit analysis is performed to determine the economic feasibility of the various systems.

This thesis analyzes the effectiveness of the Kodak Color Print View ing Filters. The first half discusses the problems people in the graphic arts encounter when working with color reproductions and points out the in adequacies of the proofing system currently in use. The second half focuses on the application of the viewing filters and their ability to improve the proofing system. This paper discusses the ways in which mid-life mothers reflected their attitudes toward the emerging womanhood of their adolescent daughters through art work. It concerns natural and normal developmental stresses which occur as mothers and daughters pass through difficult life stages somewhat simultaneously. A non-clinical group of four mothers between 38 and 44-years old with daughters between 14 and 17-years old responded to five specifically designed drawing tasks derived from literature on mid-life and mothers and daughters.
