The Role Of Ai In Digital Propaganda And Its Influence On Public Political Perception. A Case Study Of The Uae Citizen, Maitha Salem Mohamed Alshamsi
The Role Of Ai In Digital Propaganda And Its Influence On Public Political Perception. A Case Study Of The Uae Citizen, Maitha Salem Mohamed Alshamsi
Theses
The study investigates the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital propaganda and its influence on public political perception, using the United Arab Emirates as a case study. It aims to understand how AI-generated content shapes political opinions by analyzing the relationships between digital propaganda exposure, AI content interaction, social media engagement and media literacy. In addition, the study uses the Framing Theory (1974) by Erving Goffman. It posits that individuals interpret information and events through cognitive frameworks or "frames" that organize and influence their understanding. It implies that AI amplifies specific frames by customizing content and targeting audiences, which …

Modifying The L-Tryptophan Affinity Of The Ribosomal Arrest Peptide Tnac, Alexis Orlando Delgado Castillo
Theses
Since creating biosensors from zero has proven a more challenging enterprise than expected, resorting into naturally occurring regulatory systems already characterized represents a more accurate, rapid, and attractive option. Various previous strategies have sought to exploit and modify regulatory elements that sense for different molecules, including monosaccharides (Tang et al., 2008), secondary metabolites (Flachbart et al., 2021), and other amino acids (Della Corte et al., 2020). This study aims to leverage current scientific knowledge and advances concerning the structure and function of the ribosomal arrest peptide TnaC. With this research I integrated the TnaC ribosome-arresting peptide into a new biosensor …

Experimental Evaluation Of Recent Theoretical Real-Time Signal Higher-Order Sliding Mode Differentiators On Noisy Sensors, Jessica Hamer
Experimental Evaluation Of Recent Theoretical Real-Time Signal Higher-Order Sliding Mode Differentiators On Noisy Sensors, Jessica Hamer
Theses
This thesis explores the performance of higher-order sliding mode differentiators applied to sensor signals under varying sampling rates and switching functions. Two differentiator designs are evaluated: a hybrid algorithm that combines a super-twisting algorithm with a linear observer, and a fixed-time higher-order sliding mode differentiator. Each was tested on a physical sensor testbed using position data from a servomotor and electronic compass. The differentiators were implemented in a ROS2 environment, and their estimates were evaluated by obtaining the minimum and maximum position and velocity values, as well as analyzing graphs to capture the nature of the algorithms' noise reduction. The …
Safe Reinforcement Learning For Trajectory Tracking Of Mobile Robots With Minimal Intermittent Observations, Mahtab Noor Shaan
Safe Reinforcement Learning For Trajectory Tracking Of Mobile Robots With Minimal Intermittent Observations, Mahtab Noor Shaan
Theses
Autonomous wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) are widely used for safe operation in safety-critical systems, such as robotic visual inspection of confined spaces in energy infrastructure, warehouse automation, delivery robots, and autonomous vehicles. The operating environments for these safety-critical systems are often uncertain. Therefore, in such environments, it is essential for WMRs to reliably follow predetermined paths while effectively maintaining lane position and avoiding collisions. However, frequent observations required for control execution to account for environmental uncertainty result in increased sensing, computation, and energy costs. This necessity drives the research for safe and resource-aware trajectory-tracking control methods. Although several state-of-the-art trajectory …
Information Capacity For Time-Varying Adversarial Networks, Raphael Thorp
Information Capacity For Time-Varying Adversarial Networks, Raphael Thorp
Theses
This thesis investigates the capacity of time-varying adversarial networks where intelligent adversaries can corrupt transmissions on restricted subsets of network edges that change availability over time. Building upon the work of Beemer et al. on adversarial network coding with restricted adversaries, we analyze networks whose topology evolves temporally, motivated by applications in space networking and delay-tolerant systems. We introduce different adversarial modes that capture different temporal aspects of corruption behavior and establish their hierarchical relationship with respect to network capacity. The analysis employs time-expanded graph representations and develops recursive counting methods for computing expected network capacity under random time assignments, …
Blockchain Poisoning Attacks In Federated Learning, Mohammad Raihan Uddin
Blockchain Poisoning Attacks In Federated Learning, Mohammad Raihan Uddin
Theses
Federated Learning (FL) enables collaborative model training across distributed clients without sharing raw data, thereby preserving privacy. However, conventional FL depends on a centralized aggregator, exposing it to poisoning and backdoor attacks that threaten model integrity. This thesis introduces B-ZkFed, a blockchain-based and zero-knowledge proof (ZKP)-enhanced FL framework designed to ensure verifiable trust, transparency, and robustness. The blockchain layer decentralizes aggregation through smart contracts, while the ZKP module allows clients to cryptographically prove the correctness of updates without revealing private data. A multi-layer adaptive defense combining gradient-norm filtering, model-similarity analysis, and robust aggregation mitigates poisoning threats under both IID and …

Near-Field Analysis Of Horn Antennas For Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing, Landon Riley Carroll
Near-Field Analysis Of Horn Antennas For Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing, Landon Riley Carroll
Theses
Standard gain horn antennas are widely used in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and antenna measurements. In EMC testing, it is often required to generate high electric field intensities across a wide frequency range within the near-field region. However, the focusing properties of antennas are deteriorated in the radiating near-field region. In order to increase engineering confidence in EMC testing, it is desirable to understand the root causes of the aforementioned radiation degradation. In this thesis, the near-field characteristics of three different pyramidal standard gain horns are investigated using full-wave analysis, analytical methods, and measurement. The causes of near-field gain reduction …

This research investigated midwives lived experiences of using gender-inclusive language in public maternity care, examining how linguistic practices intersect with professional identity, ethical commitment, and institutional constraint. Informed by feminist theory and guided by descriptive phenomenology with a constructivist paradigm, the study explored how midwives navigate the profession’s foundational ethos of being ‘with woman’ while responding to the ethical imperative to provide inclusive care in an increasingly diverse society. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight practising midwives in Western Australia, generating rich descriptions of how inclusive language is enacted, negotiated, and constrained in practice. Reflexive thematic analysis produced three overarching …
Sigrid Undset: Nordic Catholic Apologist, Brendan Edward Arthur
Sigrid Undset: Nordic Catholic Apologist, Brendan Edward Arthur
Theses
This thesis explores the depth and breadth of Sigrid Undset’s non-fiction Catholic writing, a substantial body of work that has largely remained inaccessible to all but readers of Norwegian. Through original translations and analysis, it synthesises these texts into broad themes while situating them within their historical contexts of the intellectual and cultural debates in early twentieth-century Norway. The study addresses three research questions: (1) the general themes in Undset’s Catholic non-fiction; (2) the contemporary relevance of these writings; and (3) whether Undset merits the designation “Catholic apologist.” In its method, the thesis employs textual analysis of Undset’s essays, articles …
Vision Or Exemplification? Augustine And Aquinas On Divine Illumination, Matthew Richard Cain
Vision Or Exemplification? Augustine And Aquinas On Divine Illumination, Matthew Richard Cain
Theses
Many interpreters of Thomas Aquinas since the second half of the twentieth-century emphasise the Platonist dimensions of his thought, particularly his metaphysics. This contrasts with, and is a shift away from, the dominant Aristotelian interpretations of previous generations. Aquinas’s theory of knowledge, however, tends still to be interpreted in Aristotelian terms, according to which Augustine’s Platonist illuminationism is replaced by a Peripatetic emphasis on sensation and abstraction in the soul.
This thesis reexamines the role of illumination in Augustine and Aquinas’ theories of knowledge. It asks whether scholarship today ought to reconceive the relationship between these two major thinkers in …
Defining Barriers In Pulmonary Hypertension: Pulmonary Hypertension In Remote And Rural Settings In Australia: An Epidemiologic Study Aided By Echocardiography, Pyi Naing
Theses
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common, complex, and potentially lethal haemodynamic condition with many underlying aetiologies. It is poorly understood, and diagnosis is usually made late in the disease process resulting in poor outcomes even in the developed world. An innovative universal framework is required to achieve early and accurate diagnosis for improved outcomes, especially in remote and rural areas. The thesis documents my substantial body of work that unlocks a collective framework to assist patients with PH, particularly in areas not classically serviced by tertiary level PH care.
The first chapter of my thesis outlines the history, important milestones …

What Are Younger ("Millennial" Aged 24 - 40) Secondary Religious Education Teachers In Sydney Catholic Schools Understanding And Experiencing In Terms Of A Call To Witness, Mark Smith
Theses
Teachers of Religious Education in Australian Catholic secondary schools, like teachers of all key learning areas, are expected to have specialist knowledge of the content being taught and skills in contemporary pedagogy for high-quality learning. They also have an additional expectation – they are called to witness to the Catholic faith and Catholic teachings as they teach about them. Or at least they are in theory. However, in a contemporary Australian society that is becoming increasingly non-religious, secular, pluralistic, and religiously diverse is this call to witness still tenable or appropriate? Research on Catholic education has called for a greater …
A Public For The Problem: Vocabularies Of Belonging At The Climate Precipice, Louisa Stredwick
A Public For The Problem: Vocabularies Of Belonging At The Climate Precipice, Louisa Stredwick
Theses
This study proposes the central concepts of belonging and vocabulary to critically analyse and recompose current approaches to more-than-human relationship that are inadequate and counterproductive. Contemporary vocabularies of belonging are inadequate because they fail to account for the practicalities of an expansive human and more-than-human ‘we’, and they are underpinned by extractivist or idealist logics. They are counterproductive because they carry embedded dualisms that often directly counter intended messages of inherent relationality. A largely theoretical work, the thesis is informed by a field philosophy approach in the Environmental Humanities, working alongside the Martuwarra (Fitzroy) River, in North-Western Australia, and its …
