Theory And Practice Of Integrated Psychology, Marjorie L. Rand
Theory And Practice Of Integrated Psychology, Marjorie L. Rand
Theses
Marjorie L. Rand’s Theory and Practice of Integrated Psychotherapy explores a holistic approach to therapy that unifies the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Drawing from Gestalt therapy, Reichian therapy, movement therapy, breath awareness, and meditation, Rand presents a flexible and adaptive therapeutic model that prioritizes self-awareness and personal growth.
The thesis challenges the traditional medical and psychological models, which often treat the mind and body as separate entities. Instead, Rand argues for an integrative approach where energy flows freely, reducing psychological and physical distress. She discusses the role of energy healing, the chakra system, and bodywork as essential components of …

Ethnic Textile Art Of Tunisia And Its Relation To That Of Morocco, Algeria, And Libya, Irmtraud H. Reswick
Theses
After a brief review of Tunisian geography and history, the differences between urban and rural arts and crafts are discussed. Chapters II and III deal with the various raw materials that are used in textile arts, their transformation into a spun and dyed thread and the archaic methods and tools employed. The looms and weaving techniques are described in detail to illustrate the extraordinary skill of the weavers and the many weeks or months of patient work that the women spend to complete one textile. The traditional textiles, their motifs and coloration and possible external influences are illustrated and presented …

Selected Teachers' Acquisition, Implementation, Perceptions, And Attitudes Of Building And Applying Strategies For Intellectual Competencies In Students (Basics), Jane K. Shelburg
Theses
A questionnaire-type survey was constructed, field tested, and then administered to eighty selected elementary and secondary St. Charles, Missouri teachers related to their acquisition, implementation, perceptions, and attitudes regarding Building and Applying Strategies for Intellectual Competencies in Students (BASICS). It was designed to answer questions this writer and the district officials wanted answered by teachers who had taken in-service BASICS instruction. Data from the respondents indicated that all were using the learned strategies to some degree in the areas of the curriculum they teach, but not all teachers had modified their behavior to the same degree. BASICS, the product of …

The roles of scale, contrast and spectral difference in visual detection and recognition was investigated. Geometrical target arrays were produced and projected using a rear projection apparatus. Scale was varied using combined photographic reduction and slide projection. Contrast levels were adjusted in projection of lithographic target arrays using neutral density filtration arrangements in the projection apparatus. Experimentally obtained cumulative probability of detection and combined detection and recognition was examined relative to established combinations of target scale, contrast and spectral difference. A method for the characterization of target pair differences was offered and analyzed. The relation of scale, contrast and perceptual …

Administrating A Residential Program For Persons With Developmental Needs, Jean W. Powers
Theses
The thesis, Administrating a Residential Program for Persons with Developmental Needs by Jean W. Powers, explores the principles and challenges of managing a residential facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. The author draws on her experience as the administrator of “The Ridge,” a residential program serving 60 individuals requiring out-of-home care and training due to developmental challenges. The paper emphasizes humanistic and participatory administration, guided by principles such as normalization, the developmental model, least restrictive alternatives, individual program plans, and resident rights.

Art Experiences For Children, Yvonne Moran
Art Experiences For Children, Yvonne Moran
Theses
This document, written by Yvonne Moran in 1978, serves as a guide to incorporating art experiences into children’s learning to foster creativity, self-expression, and personal development. The approach combines elements of art and dance therapy, highlighting how movement, color, and self-reflective activities can help children build confidence, communicate emotions, and explore their identities. Structured as a hands-on manual, it includes specific units like life-sized body drawings, color-mixing exercises, rhythm awareness, and shadow sketches. Each activity emphasizes experiential learning, allowing children to engage deeply with art and movement to understand themselves and their relationships with others.
The guide is particularly mindful …
Loneliness: Origins, Manifestations, And Treatment, Andrea Schalman
Loneliness: Origins, Manifestations, And Treatment, Andrea Schalman
Theses
This thesis explores loneliness as a multifaceted psychological and social phenomenon, examining its origins, manifestations, and potential avenues for treatment. Beginning with a historical overview, the work situates loneliness within cultural and theoretical contexts, noting how the experience has been interpreted through philosophy, literature, and psychology. Drawing heavily on psychoanalytic theory, the thesis considers the role of early childhood attachment, separation, and loss as central contributors to the development of loneliness. The impact of maternal deprivation, insecure attachment patterns, and unresolved separation anxiety are analyzed as formative influences that shape one’s vulnerability to chronic isolation.
The study also examines the …

The Affective Meaning Of Color, Henrietta N. Senecal
The Affective Meaning Of Color, Henrietta N. Senecal
Theses
Henrietta N. Senecal’s The Affective Meaning of Color explores how individuals emotionally respond to color, emphasizing the personal and psychological significance of color perception. Drawing from psychological, physiological, and cultural theories, the thesis critiques standardized color interpretation systems—such as those by Luscher and Don—and argues that affective color meaning varies greatly between individuals. Senecal supports this claim with an informal community survey, where participants matched colors to emotion-laden words. Results revealed both common associations (e.g., red with anger or love, black with death) and significant variation, reinforcing the idea that color interpretation is deeply personal and often shaped by context, …

Municipal Point Source Pollution In The Hackensack Meadowlands Estuary, Alfonso Augustine Hernandez
Theses
A study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of various sewage treatment facilities in the Hackensack Meadowlands District. The study dealt with overall plant efficiencies based on percent removals of suspended solids and Biochemical Oxygen Demand although other parameters were also included.
Samples for this study were obtained from the inlet and outlet channels of the individual plants. The parameters studied were: Suspended Solids, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Total Nitrogen, Nitrate-Nitrite Compounds, Total Organic Carbon, Orthophosphate-P, Total Oxygen Demand and Fecal Coliform. Results obtained were averaged so as to collectively represent wet and dry weather conditions.
The results indicate that most …
