Objectives: To analyze the impact and distribution of blood groups in different ethnicities and the extent of susceptibility to infection with COVID-19 in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of post- amputation pain among lower-limb amputees and its burden on their lives. Methods: A retrospective patients record review of lower limb amputation surgeries was carried out at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between 2008-2019. e collected data included: patients demographics, surgical operations, chronic pain characteristics, functional impairment, and treatment. Results: A total of 645 lower-limb amputations carried out on 509 patients, 104 (20.4%) patients had more than one amputation surgery carried out, and 40 (7.9%) patients having bilateral amputations. Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of peer-assisted learning (PAL) and expert-assisted learning (EAL) in terms of knowledge gain in virtual chest x-ray (CXR) interpretations. The secondary objective was to assess students’ satisfaction levels between both groups. Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, second-year medical students who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to the PAL and EAL groups. Objectives: To reveal the demographic features, prognostic factors, and tumor characteristics of patients with non-epithelial ovarian tumors (NEOTs). Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed using data from all female patients diagnosed with NEOT (germ cell [GC], sex cord–stromal cells [SCSC], sarcoma, and small cell carcinoma) from 2002 to 2017 at Princess Noorah Oncology Center, National Guard Hospital Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Results: Forty patients with NEOTs were identified. There were equal percentages of GC (45%) and SCSC (45%) origin tumors, and these were the most common histological types. Objectives: To share clinical data on the efficacy of 4F-PCC in the treatment of major bleeding caused by warfarin, dabigatran, and rivaroxaban. Methods: This is a retrospective study of patients admitted to King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with major bleeding caused by oral anticoagulants and treated with 4-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F-PCC). The International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Scientific and Standardization Subcommittee criteria were used to evaluate the effectiveness of PCCs. Objectives: To assess the knowledge and perception of artificial intelligence (AI) among radiology residents across Saudi Arabia and assess their interest in learning about AI. Methods: An observational cross-sectional study carried out among radiology residents enrolled in the Saudi Board of Radiology, Saudi Arabia. An anonymized, self-administered questionnaire was distributed in April 2020 and responses were collected until July 2020. Results: A total of 154 residents filled the questionnaire. The data of dyspepsia and epigastric pain patients were derived from the hospital based registration system between 2020-2021. Objectives: To investigate the possible effects of wet-cupping therapy (hijama) on autoimmune activity and thyroid hormonal profiles of Hashimoto’s disease (HD) patients. Methods: A prospective pilot controlled trial was carried out among adult females following HD at the Endocrinology Clinic of King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from February 2014 until March 2017. Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic utility of self-collected saliva in coronavirus desease-19 (COVID-19) screening procedures. Methods: A total of 6 databases were reviewed from their inception until August 2021. Sensitivity and specificity were measured by extracting items (true-positive, true-negative, false-positive and false-negative) from each paper. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy based on Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies, version 2. Results: A total of 41 studies were included in the final analysis. Objectives: To study childhood nephrolithiasis and nephrocalcinosis caused by metabolic disorders, distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA), and familial hypomagnesemia, hypercalciuria, and nephrocalcinosis (FHHNC). Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 86 children presented over 10 years (2011-2021), with nephrolithiasis (89%) and nephrocalcinosis (11%) caused by metabolic disorders (62%), FHHNC (21%), and dRTA (17%). Results: The mean age at discovery was 72.7 months. The underlying metabolic etiologies included hyperoxaluria (38%), cystinuria (32%), hypercalciuria (24%), and hyperuricosuria (6%). Genetic testing was carried out for 23 patients. Hyperoxaluria was typically treated medically (75%). However, the majority progressed to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Objectives: To assess the antibacterial activity of ceftobiprole against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ( P. aeruginosa ) from various body specimen types and different patterns of resistance. Methods: A retrospective cohort study with a total of 49 MRSA and 99 P. aeruginosa isolated in the Microbiology Laboratory at King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between 2018-2019, were used. Methods: Retrospective observational study of pregnant women who were infected with COVID-19 from April 2020 until March 2021 at Bahrain Defense Force Hospital, Riffa, Bahrain. Objectives: To conduct a descriptive clinicopathological and demographic analysis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans among Saudi patients attending a tertiary care center in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. Methods: This retrospective, single-center study reviewed the medical records and pathology reports of Saudi patients attending a tertiary center (Johns Hopkins Aramco Health Care) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia from 1995 to 2019 to identify all cases of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. Demographic and phenotypic data were also analyzed. Results: Thirty-five Saudi patients were identified as having dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. Females constituted 68.6% of patients. Objectives: To delineate the relation between shift work and glycemic control among the healthcare workers (HCWs) with diabetes mellitus (DM) in the hospitals of Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among HCWs with DM working in 3 hospitals in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from November 2018 to January 2019. The study participants answered a self-administered questionnaire related to sociodemographic data, work-related questions, diabetes-related questions, the latest hemoglobin A1C test outcome, and self-management activities. Objectives: To identify the self-reported vaccine-related side effects among healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the Jazan province, Saudi Arabia, and determine the associated socio-demographic factors. With the recent second and third waves of coronavirus disease -19 (COVID-19) infections worldwide, the race is not only to encourage but also to achieve mass vaccination. This study aim to establish unified clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for adults and pediatric cochlear implantation (CI) for the Ministry of Health specialist hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A comprehensive literature review was carried out by a task force group. Guidelines were based on evidence-based medicine including institutions and individuals’ experiences. Bilateral CI is recommended for adults and pediatrics with bilateral severe/profound hearing loss. The minimum age of implantation for children is recommended at 9 months. Objectives: To evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on cancer management in Saudi Arabia’s military hospitals. Methods: This multi-centric, retrospective study compared cancer patients diagnosed from February-July 2019 and 2020, focusing on the time duration for acceptance and time for oncologic treatment initiation. Eligibility and referral status were recorded. Clinical data of COVID-19-positive cancer patients were collected and evaluated their outcomes and survival. Results: Data of 1574 cancer patients (mean age, 57.1 years) were collected. Mean time for acceptance was 7.3 days in 2019 and 8 days in 2020, with no statistically significant difference. Objectives: To fill this gap in the literature and establish a prediction model. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit between April 2018 and April 2019. Sixty-five sepsis cases were clinically diagnosed with early-onset neonatal sepsis (EONS) and confirmed by bacterial culture, and 91 newborns were enrolled as control. Multivariate analysis was used to analyze the data, and the predictive efficiency of the prediction model was verified using the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.
