The availability of the amino acids present in the protein component determine the value of the product as a food supplement. This investigation entailed the first systematic analysis of the extinction of a conditioned taste aversion. The study was undertaken because little is known about the elimination of these prepared responses.

Prepared appear the be characterized by (1) the formation of associations between specific stimuli; (2) the rapidity with which associations are established and (4) the apparent lack of stimulus contiguity generally considered to be necessary to establish classical conditioning.

The 'cognitive model' in this treatise is proposed as an original method of understanding, describing and explaining the acute grief process and outcome. The model suggests that the primary impact of a sudden death event is upon the survivor's conceptual frame-of-reference. This differs from the traditional psychoanalytic view of mourning which emphasizes the emotional impact as being foremost.

The effects of the Maillard reaction on the biological activity of insulin as a hormone, and on the utilization of egg albumin as a source of amino acids have been studied.

In order to know the number, the position, and the effect of the glucose residues that bind a protein, crystalline zinc insulin was stored with ¹⁴C-glucose at 37° and 68% R.H. for four months. The unreacted sugar was separated from insulin in a Bio-Gel column and the bound radioactivity counted. The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate how the interaction among economic activities and water-effluent loadings may be quantified for the area surrounding Narragansett Bay. A second objective is to demonstrate how the resulting economic-waste generation model may be used as a tool for public decision-making.

The study concerns itself with economic activity whose water-borne residuals are generated in the Narragansett Bay area and consequently, the study area closely approximates the Narragansett Bay Drainage Basin. This region accounts for over 90 percent and slightly less than 10 percent of Rhode Island's and Massachusetts economic activity respectively.
