Examining The Association Between Personal And Cultural Values And Cross-National Customer Satisfaction, Adel A. Al-Weqaiyan
Examining The Association Between Personal And Cultural Values And Cross-National Customer Satisfaction, Adel A. Al-Weqaiyan
Open Access Dissertations
Although most marketing scholars agree that customer satisfaction is a critical determinant of post purchase attitude and product choice, research has remained largely confined to the US and few Western European countries. Given the increasing size of markets in developing countries, and that customer satisfaction is at the heart of all marketing activities, international marketers should have a deeper understanding of the determinants of satisfaction responses of the international customer.
A review of present satisfaction literature reveals the domination of the expectation-disconfirmation paradigm. Proponents of this paradigm suggest that satisfaction following a product experience depends on the magnitude and direction …

A Transtheoretical Investigation Of Immoderate Drinking In College, Jeffrey Peter Migneault
Open Access Dissertations
Immoderate alcohol use is prevalent on college campuses and results in high levels of negative consequences including injury, social, academic, and occupational disruption, increased levels of sexually transmitted disease, and emotional complaint. This study applied the Transtheoretical Model of Change to immoderate alcohol use in a cross-sectional study of 629 college students. This model has proven useful as a tool of investigation of and intervention on many other health related behaviors.
The Transtheoretical Model is a model of intentional behavior change that is composed of five interrelated multi-dimensional constructs. This investigation developed measures of four of these constructs. Two measurement …

A Structural Equation Model Of A Set Of Operationalized Cognitive Social Learning Variables And Citizen Participation In Neighborhood Organizations, Donald R. Whitworth
Open Access Dissertations
This study investigated the salience of a cognitive social learning model for understanding the process by which an individual decides to participate in a neighborhood association. An operationalized set of cognitive social learning variables served as the dimensions of the hypothesized model to explain citizen participation. The subjects included 229 adult (18 years and older) Jewish Israelis. Of the total pool of subjects, 112 were graduates of Project Renewal neighborhood activist training programs who were interview in their homes. The remaining 117 subjects were nonactivists randomly selected from the same neighborhoods as the activists. Forty nine percent of the subjects …

Stress, Temperament, And Academic Achievement, Patricia M. Lemay
Open Access Dissertations
The relationship among stress, temperament, and academic achievement in middle-school children was explored. It was hypothesized that: (1) various types of stressors differ in their relationship with academic achievement, (2) temperamental variables differ in their relationship with children's perceived stress, and (3) temperament mediates the relationship between stress and academic achievement.
Subjects were 263 sixth graders from three public school systems in southeastern New England. Using a group format, the subjects were administered two self-report measures of stress and one self-rating temperament survey, the predictor variables. The criterion measure was the Metropolitan Achievement Test scores for the 1991-1992 academic year. …

The Role-Taking Construct And Its Relationship To Social Acceptance, William P. Geary
The Role-Taking Construct And Its Relationship To Social Acceptance, William P. Geary
Open Access Dissertations
This research was undertaken to examine the role-taking construct as being a composite of two different component abilities, interrelating multiple elements and controlling the self. Each of these abilities was examined developmentally, and in relationship to social acceptance, intelligence and socioeconomic status. Developmental psychologists have stated that role-taking is an important social-cognitive ability for appropriate social behavior and peer acceptance. In a similar manner, research has linked a delay in role-taking ability to peer acceptance problems in certain populations. In this study, the multidimensionality of role-taking and its relationship to social acceptance in normal elementary school population is examined.
