A curriculum can be developed in several ways. The simplest method is to use the curriculum of another institution without modification. The hazard of such an approach lies in the possibility that the curriculum may not be a good one or, even if satisfactory for the original institution, may not fit into the conditions of the setting where it is to be used. For example, entrance requirements for institutions vary from country to country and from one institution to another.

However, many important features of the nucleus still are not understood. Surveys have shown that the incidence of total laryngectomy, surgical removal of the larynx, has increased steadily in the United States since 1947 when a total of 846 cases were reported (19, 20), to the present time when cancer registries indicate that about 4,400 new cases of cancer of the larynx are discovered annually (13). James P. Newcomb's life spanned turbulent times in Texas. From the Nova Scotian's arrival in Texas in 1839 until his death in 1907, Newcomb witnessed many major changes in his adopted state. As he grew older, he played an increasingly important part in the state's affairs. Although intended to be a warts-and-all biography, this thesis concentrates on Newcomb's involvement with newspapers and politics from the time of his first venture in journalism in 1854 until his appointment as Texas' Secretary of State in 1870. In 1957, Adam Rapacki, Foreign Minister of Poland, proposed that a zone be created in Central Europe in which nuclear weapons of all kinds would be prohibited. The zone was to include the countries of West Germany, East Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. This paper seeks to study that proposal in the light of its background and consequences. It has been shown that ketohydrazones react with lead tetraacetate to give azoacetates in good yields (11) according to the following equation:

The reaction of the structurally related 4,4- disubstituted ketosemicarbazones with lead tetraacetate quite unexpectedly gave carbamates in good yields (10) presumably according to the following equation:

Wilson (1948) studied the reactions of pullets to different environmental temperatures. In a laboratory experiment Bajpai (1962) observed that a change in the cloacal temperature of adult Rhode Island Red males was effected by manipulating the photo-period. The topic considered in this thesis is the construction and validation of six mental health sub-scales which are based upon procedures controlling for age, sex, and educational status. Each item in a 22 item mental health scale is tested for validity by age, sex, and educational status.
