Educators find it helpful to evaluate not only the general vocabulary ability of the college student, but also the more specialized directions which the development of the student 's vocabulary may take.
The author's interest in this problem grew out of the results obtained with freshmen in the Westhampton College orientation program in September 1948. In 1753 Orange County could hardly have still been oalled a frontier region, but its society remained like that of the more exposed communities to the west for some time. It was neither overpopulated nor was the land intensively cultivated. The flora and fauna had hardly been affected, and wolves frequently howling at night reminded the inhabitants that the job of taming their environment was yet unfinished. Since 1920 the Commonwealth 0£ Virginia bas had an organized Civilian Vocational Rehabilitation Program, having enacted the legislation creating the Service. a few weeks prior to the passage of the Federal Act in June of that year. A national consciousness of tho crippled and disabled had been awakened following World War I which culminated in the Veteran Rehabilitation Act. This thesis attempts to tell tho story of the coal mining industry in the northwestern part of Chesterfield County, Virginia, The coal deposits in this area are only a part or a larger coal basin lying west or Richmond and covering several counties, but as the title suggests, this paper is confined entirely to the mines in the vicinity of Midlothian. Statement of the Problem
It was the purpose of this study (1) to picture the situation facing the brethren prior to the reorganization of the work, which was the task of the General Conferences of 1901 and 1903, (2) to show that the plan which was carried out, and which, as revealed to Mrs. White, received God's approval, was reorganization, not disorganization, and (3) to trace briefly the effects of this plan for concerted action as it has resulted in the great worldwide enterprise of Seventh-day Adventists today.

Statement of the problem
It is the purpose of this study to discover, if possible, the precise meaning assigned in Hebrews 6:19; 10:20 to "the veil" mentioned in each of these verses. This study is made in the belief that this epistle comes to us from the Apostle Paul and that, accordingly, though it may contain "some things hard to be understood," it was written "according to the wisdom given unto him" by God.
