Purpose: Preparing students for professional performance in the "real world" is the main trust of the nursing education. Appropriate instructional methods are required in order to alleviate anxiety and uncertainty of the novice nursing students during their transition from theory to practice. Purpose: African Americans trail the national average in broadband access to the Internet. African Americans have higher cancer incidence and mortality rates than other groups. The lack of access to the scope of information available via the Internet may enhance these disparities. This descriptive study compares information seeking behaviors among Black Newspaper Readers (BNR) who have (n=455) or do not have (n=264) access to the Internet. Purpose: As healthcare faces a critical shortage of qualified nursing staff, this ageing workforce is further challenged as the 'Baby Boomer' generation prepares for retirement. While current retention strategies are focused on recruitment, little is known about end of career nurses' (EOCNs') retirement decisions. This Australian study explored factors that influence EOCNs' decisions regarding their workforce participation, and identified leadership as a key factor which influenced their decision.

This study examined the immediate and one year outcomes of Canadian Knowledge Exchange Institutes for Nursing Education. Purpose: Constipation, defined as having a bowel movement less than three times a week (ROM III Criteria), is a common problem. A growing proportion of disabled residents on anti-seizure medications are living longer yet the routine care in using laxatives to relieve constipation can no longer be effective after prolonged use. Team-based learning (TBL) is an evidence-based instructional method that engages students to become active participates in their own learning. Students form teams of five to seven members. In TBL students' engagement occurs in two interrelated, mutually strengthening areas: within course content (individual) and within teams (group). A Smoking Cessation Intervention For People With Chronic Hepatitis C: A Randomised Controlled Trial, Carol L. Reid, Mary Fenech

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of current practice in smoking cessation for the general population i.e., a telephone counselling and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) intervention and its applicability to people with chronic hepatitis-C.
Methods: A randomised controlled trial was conducted over twelve weeks. Following consent, ninety-two smokers (outpatients) with chronic hepatitis-C were recruited by the Nurse Practitioner hepatology, randomly assigned and stratified by number of cigarettes smoked (i.e., 15 and greater; <15) into the intervention group (telephone counselling and NRT) and control group (telephone counselling). Outcomes measured included socio-demographics, nicotine dependence, depression, anxiety and stress and quality of life (QOL). All statistical data were analysed using SPSS.

Purpose: To sustain our continued excellence as a designated medical home level III health center, our team addresses one of the Patient-Centered Medical Home criteria which states, team meetings may include daily TEAM Huddle, a structured communication process to discuss patients coordination of care for planned visits.
Methods: Team Huddle starts with nurse completing pre-clinic chart review and documents data on Team Huddle Worksheet. Nurse clinician reviews the diagnosis, chief complaints, identifies health maintenance or preventive screenings of the patient.
