Gamification Approach To Improve Self-Managing Behavior In Head And Neck Cancer Patients, Hsia-Lan Wang

A gaming based approach to improve self-managing fatigue and pain in head and neck cancer patients after their treatment was feasible, acceptable, and safe and in a pre-efficacy study. Improvements of fatigue, pain, and activities of daily living during the 6-week intervention were significant with large effect sizes.

Health disparities continue to be a concern among nurses. Individuals with coronary heart disease demonstrate a high frequency of emergency department (ED) visits to manage acute and chronic symptoms. The purpose of this project, completed as part of the EBP Change Champion program, was to expand the nursing assistant (NA) role in implementing evidenced-based interventions to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) risk. NA knowledge increased and the unit CAUTI rate six months post-program fell to 0/1000 patient days.

This qualitative study aimed to describe nurses' perceptions of top-of-license (TOL) practice and the successes and barriers associated with achieving TOL practices. Nurses described practice that did include TOL as well as significant barriers. Nursing leaders must develop innovative new nursing practice models that support TOL practices.

We describe the results of a 12-week pilot where pressure offloading devices were made available to eligible patients with diabetic foot ulcers being treated in a diabetes management clinic. The novel Offloading Adherence Scale, developed from two previously validated instruments, was used to capture self-reported measures of adherence.

A cross sectional observational study investigating possible knowledge deficits and barriers in the implementation of adverse childhood experiences (ACE)questionnaire in nurse practitioners clinical practice. Finding suggest the need for evaluation of nursing curriculum and implementation of the ACE assessment tool during routine physical exams.
