This literature mining project is regarding mutations that cause hearing loss in patients with human hypo parathyroid, deafness, and renal dysplasia (HDR) syndrome caused by a mutation in the GATA3 gene. The disease is unique; not all diagnosed individuals present with all symptoms of the triad. Van Esh et al. found that the haploinsufficiency of the GATA3 is found on chromosome 10p14-p15 (ref.1). For (HF)_n, (H₂O)_n, and (HCl)_n (n = 3 − 5), we have rigorously characterized the structures for the minima and transition states for synchronous proton transfer (SPT) with the CCSD(T) method and aug-cc-pVTZ basis set. The electronic barrier heights (∆E^†) associated with these transition states have also been computed with the explicitly correlated CCSD(T)-F12 method and the aug-cc-pVQZ-F12 basis set (abbreviated aQZ-F12). There exists an extant literature investigating sexuality, gender, and stereotypes. It has examined how accurate people are at predicting sexual orientation and if there is an ability that can be developed, usually referred to as gaydar, to be able to tell if some is gay or not by looking at them. A lot of these finding suggest that participants are using societal stereotypes about sexual orientation and gender to identify people. The purpose of the research study was to explore the connection between the presence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and pathways to the experience of peer victimization. Previous literature indicates that ACEs can have far-reaching negative effects into adulthood. Individuals with multiple ACEs have an increased risk of developing various physical and mental health issues as both children and adults. Research has also demonstrated that ACEs can negatively impact social affiliation and can preclude individuals from seeking social support. While there are many known causes of wrongful convictions, such as eyewitness misidentification, ineffective counsel, and false confessions, the most egregious cause is prosecutorial misconduct. In this experiment, we investigated the composition of the secondary metabolites in sloth algal cultures. Additionally, we investigated the effects of secondary metabolites in sloth algal cultures on insects. The three outlets of investigation include insect avoidance tests, sending samples to the Natural Center for Natural Products Research, and analyzing sequencing data with AntiSMASH to identify secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters. While our data from the Drosophila fly tests were inconclusive, we found that our samples contain many different gene clusters for terpenes, NRPS, PKS, RiPPs, which are volatile compounds with a wide array of biosynthetic functions. Current forensic hair analysis includes microscopic hair comparison and mitochondrial or nuclear DNA analyses, each with limitations. Postmortem survival of DNA in human skeletal remains occurs due to the compact microstructure of the skeleton and its ability to provide a strong, protective physical barrier to environmental insults. On a molecular level, DNA preservation in bones/teeth involves electrostatic interactions between the negatively-charged DNA backbone and positively charged calcium residues in hydroxyapatite, the latter of which is one of the main components of bone microstructure. If a perpetrator originally buried a murder victim in haste to prevent discovery and then decided to later move the victim’s body to a remote location for disposal, decomposition fluids from the victim’s body (which contain cellular material and therefore DNA) would remain in the surrounding grave soil at the original burial site. The study is characterizing cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular strength in women’s collegiate lacrosse players. It will examine maximal heart rate, maximal oxygen consumption and hamstring and quadriceps muscle strength and compare between positions. There are multiple athletes that each play a different position which will affect their cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular strength. For maximal heart rate and oxygen consumption, a cycle ergometer will increase in work rate until the point of fatigue. A Cosmed Quark metabolic cart will measure oxygen consumption and heart rate. The muscular strength test measures the athlete’s quadriceps and hamstring ratio at two different isokinetic speeds. …

The park is also visited by approximately 300,000 people, annually (Hobdy, 2019). The causeway at the park is an area of high human and wildlife activity. Here, the differences in desensitization, or lack thereof, of year-round and transient bird species to the stimuli of vehicles and humans were determined. The use of blood flow restriction (BFR) has skyrocketed in popularity in the past few years as a therapeutic modality. Studies have shown that the application of BFR at 20-30% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO_2max) yields similar improvements in cardiovascular fitness, muscle mass, and strength when compared with traditional exercise at 60-90% of VO_2max. The substantially lower workload accompanying BFR allows for more tolerable workloads in special populations, such as those recovering from musculoskeletal injury. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of intermittent blood flow restriction (BFR) compared to low- (LIIE) and high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) on energy expenditure (EE) and substrate utilization. Participants randomly performed each interval exercise protocol, and then rested for a three-hour period, in which EE and substrate utilization were measured. Total EE was different between BFR (321.6 ± 30.1 kcals), HIIE (254.5 ± 33.5 kcals), and LIIE (287.1 ± 25.5 kcals). Fat oxidation (FatOx) in BFR (1hr = 0.14 ± 0.01 g / min, 3hr = 0.11 ± 0.01 g / min) was greater than LIIE …

This can lead to difficulty distinguishing between expirated blood and impact spatter.
