Ab Initio Study Of The Rotation Of The C≡C Group In Benzvalyne, Advait Praveen

For benzvalyne, we have characterized the minima and transition states of the molecule using the B3LYP, MP2, and M06-2X methods and aug-cc-pVTZ basis set. This was done by calculating the energy of the molecule while rotating the alkyne bond contained within it. After the initial rotation, optimized parameters for the molecule are found. Following this, imaginary frequencies were attempted to be found at the local maximum produced by the graph of the Energy v. rotation angle. Should the negative frequencies be found, the energy of the molecule will be characterized by the CCSD (T) method and aug-cc-pVQZ basis sets. This …

This thesis discusses the similarities and differences in Tanzanian COVID-19 policies implemented by the late President John Pombe Magufuli and his successor, President Samia Suluhu Hassan. It also analyzes the responses of Tanzanian citizens to these different policies as expressed in the media. The conclusions that were made in this thesis are based on qualitative analysis of articles published in Tanzanian-based newspapers during specific time periods surrounding significant policy changes during each presidency. Juvenile Life Without Parole: Exposing The Parallels Between Juvenile Offenders And Those Who Sentence Them, Autumn Fortenberry

This thesis will discuss Juvenile Life Without Parole sentencing (JLWOP) from three perspectives: (1) the evolving standard of decency as developed through relevant U.S. Supreme Court cases; (2) the cognitive and psychosocial development of adolescents that creates reduced culpability in juvenile offenders; and (3) the justifications and implications of punishment as-applied to juvenile offenders. In my fourth chapter, I argue that JLWOP sentencing disregards the humanity and transformable nature of juvenile offenders. Femicide refers to the misogynistic killing of women by men. Globally, femicide is the leading cause of premature deaths for women. El Salvador notoriously has one of the highest femicide rates in the world. This thesis analyzes the effectiveness of current Salvadoran governmental responses to femicide using quantitative and qualitative analysis. This research found that, despite a lack of enforcement, there was a relative reduction in femicide rates following major governmental responses. Most notably, following the passage of VAW-focused laws from 2011 to 2012 and the appointment of a particular unit to investigate gender-based violence, femicides in El Salvador decreased …

The purpose of this research was to explore the synthesis mechanisms of water-soluble ionic liquids with nitrogen-containing cationic bases for future use in transdermal drug delivery and forensic science applications. Ionic liquids are salts with an organic cation and either an organic or inorganic anion. They have asymmetric structures, which means that the molecules don’t pack together as neatly as other salts do, therefore, they don’t crystallize as easily, and their melting points are lower. Breastfeeding has been recognized by numerous public health organizations as the optimal feeding practice for infant growth and development, yet the state of Mississippi has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the nation. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program in Mississippi offers breastfeeding resources to low-income women throughout the state. Mothers enrolled in WIC can receive peer counseling services from women in their community who have personal experience with breastfeeding. This study explores the intersection of two main demographic variables, religion and age, and the ongoing phenomenon of partisan geographical sorting in the United States. Americans have been migrating to areas composed of politically like-minded individuals for the past few decades, resulting in the existence of Republican and Democratic clusters throughout the country. Republicans are sorting into rural areas, while Democrats are sorting into urban areas. Republicans and rural residents as a whole are more religious than are Democrats and urban residents. Anxiety was of note (Salari et al., 2020), and preventative behaviors typical of health anxiety were prevalent. This project involves comparing different methods of missing data imputation in the context of predicting real estate listing prices. These methods are compared against each other in both their ability to recreate the original data and their effects on a final predictive model. In order to evaluate their effectiveness, first, a predictive model is made using the complete dataset to use as a benchmark for the imputed datasets. With the state’s continual population decline, loss of industry follows a loss of people. Through a cascade of effects, this can further reduce underserved areas’ access to dental care. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the hereditary material in all living organisms. According to the Watson and Crick model, DNA exists as two long strands coiled into a double helix. However, DNA has been found to have the potential to exist in secondary forms known as G-Quadruplexes and i-motifs. I-motifs (intercalated-motif or iM) are formed under acidic conditions when sets of cytosines pair with protonated cytosines and are looped around each other. This research looks at the impacts of intensive, interprofessional therapy for children with disabilities. There is very little literature currently published on this topic, although what is available generally finds that more intense therapy is more beneficial. The child who was studied was a camper at Adam’s Camp therapy camp, a week-long program that involves six hours of therapy each day with therapists from five different fields. The plant stem grows against the gravitational force, a phenomenon called negative gravitropism. In the model dicotyledonous plant Arabidopsis thaliana, gravity is sensed by starch-filled amyloplasts, which trigger the shoot gravitropic response through the action of a growth hormone called auxin. In the darkness, a group of transcription factors named PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTORS (PIFs) promote stem negative gravitropism by inhibiting the starch metabolism in the endodermal amyloplasts. Red light promotes starch metabolism and converts amyloplasts into other types of plastids (e.g., chloroplasts) through the red/far-red light photoreceptors—phytochromes. Consequently, red-light-grown seedlings lose starch granules in amyloplasts and exhibit agravitropic growth. However, the …

Teacher Work Sample: Telling Time, Courtney R. Hallam

Three local elementary students were identified as performing below grade-level and receiving special education services, using direct instruction with a scripted program. The students cannot tell time using classroom clocks. The teacher created a five-day unit to teach telling time to the nearest hour and half-hour. Lesson plans were created and implemented using evidence-based practices (EBPs), including explicit instruction, modeling, and response cards. Students were able to successfully complete formative and summative assessments with scores indicating mastery. Implications and suggestions for future teaching are presented.

This text outlines the design process of the Take it All Tailgate from concept design through two prototyping stages. The Take it All Tailgate was designed for the every gameday tailgater who has a lot of tailgating equipment to haul from their vehicle to the tailgating area. With this in mind, a team of five members designed a wheeled storage space that also acts as a table in the tailgating area.
