High Velocity Impact Studies On S-2 Glass Laminated Composites, Kandasamy Rathnam Jan 1994

High Velocity Impact Studies On S-2 Glass Laminated Composites, Kandasamy Rathnam

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Post failure analysis of the impacted 12.7 mm thick S-2 glass composite panels (150x150 mm) was performed to study the failure modes during penetration. The panels were impacted projectiles (4.5 g) with three different nose shapes (blunt, conical and hemispherical) at velocities 250-600 m/s and impact data was reported in an earlier study. The back-face deflection of the laminates was also recorded in that study with the Imacon high speed camera at 105 f7s. Post failure analysis revealed that the laminates failed during penetration by cratering due to punching of fibers, laminate crushing, delamination and fiber stretching and breaking. The …

Short And Long Term Properties Of High Strength Concrete, Mohamed El-Sayed Hassan Jan 1994

Short And Long Term Properties Of High Strength Concrete, Mohamed El-Sayed Hassan

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

A comprehensive experimental study was carried out to investigate the engineering properties of high strength concrete in the range of 10,000 to 15,000 psi. The study included the determination of the uniaxial compressive strength, static modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, flexural strength, stress distribution parameters and Whitney block assumption and temperature rise of high strength concrete due to chemical reaction. The concrete was produced by using silica fume, locally available aggregate, cement type I, superplasticisers and retarders. Three concrete mix designs were obtained from ready recipes and tests were carried out at six different ages. Test results were compared with …

Perfectionism And Differences In Perfectionism Between Spouses: Their Relation To Perceptions Of The Marital Relationship, Jodi Leigh Hassen Jan 1994

Perfectionism And Differences In Perfectionism Between Spouses: Their Relation To Perceptions Of The Marital Relationship, Jodi Leigh Hassen

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Clinical observations and theoretical viewpoints have suggested that perfectionism leads to negative effects on one’s life and personal relationships. The present study had two purposes. The first purpose was to examine the relation between perfectionism and marital satisfaction. The second purpose was to examine the difference in levels of perfectionism between spouses and its relation to levels of marital satisfaction. The subjects in the present study were spouses from 53 couples. Four self-report measures were completed by each spouse: a demographic questionnaire, the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Marital Comparison Level Index, and the Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale. Pearson product-moment correlations …

A Simulation To Model Direct Access Storage Device (Dasd) Performance, Kathleen Michele Hibson Jan 1994

A Simulation To Model Direct Access Storage Device (Dasd) Performance, Kathleen Michele Hibson

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

With the vast amounts of data being collected, analyzed and stored for today’s information highway, the type and quantity of computer equipment storage media has become critical to the cost of operating a computer data service center. Processor storage is obviously the most desirable medium from a performance perspective, however, it is also the most costly. The other extreme is off-line storage such as a tape cartridge system, which is the most inexpensive method but leaves much to be desired with respect to user response time. A reasonable alternative is DASD. In fact, in many installations the “DASD farm” is …
