Synthetic Data–Driven Early Prediction Framework For Acute Kidney Injury In Patients Receiving Vancomycin And Ceftazidime/Avibactam, Maryam Ramazani

Background: The nephrotoxic risks of combining ceftazidime/avibactam (AVI) with vancomycin (VAN) remain underexplored, despite both agents independently being linked to acute kidney injury (AKI). This study assessed the risk of AKI associated with concurrent VAN and ceftazidime/avibactam (VAN-AVI) therapy and developed synthetic data models to enable early prediction of AKI.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis using electronic health record data from hospitalized adults between 2015 and 2022. The incidence of AKI was compared among patients receiving VAN-AVI or VAN in combination with piperacillin/tazobactam (VAN-TPZ) versus VAN monotherapy. Hydraulic Fracture Proppant is the gateway to reservoir connectivity, allowing for decades of natural gas production from hydraulically fractured wells in the Marcellus Shale. The proper selection of proppant can have major ramifications on the productivity of the extended-reach Marcellus shale wells. The proppant penetration into the induced fracture attempts to close the gap between the realistic non-uniform fracture conductivity and the idealistic uniform fracture conductivity. Acid mine drainage (AMD) is a widespread issue across the globe, in which some of the most critical cases are created by the mining industry. Quantification of macronutrients in food requires a large investment in facilities and instrumentation as well as ongoing expenses of labor, reagents, and hazardous waste disposal. Physical inactivity remains a persistent public health concern in the United States, disproportionately affecting rural populations like West Virginia. To address statewide physical activity challenges, West Virginia developed one of the nation’s first state level physical activity plans, ActiveWV: 2015, that was revised to ActiveWV: 2030. There are well-known difficulties associated with regenerating oak stands throughout the Central Hardwoods region. To successfully regenerate oak, competitive sources of advance reproduction are required ahead of harvesting—a condition that is rarely present, especially on productive sites. While treatments that enhance seedling competitiveness (e.g., midstory removals, burning, vegetation control) are available, in practice, these are rarely implemented and/or effective because of large treatment costs and/or because they require delaying harvest.

Underground mining environments present challenges in accurately identifying geological formations and potential hazards due to poor lighting conditions and confined spaces. Traditional imaging methods often fall short, making it difficult to detect critical geological features such as limestone, shale, and other rock formations. This research addresses these challenges by integrating camera imagery with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data to improve geological formation detection in poorly lit mining settings.

While these advances span many modeling techniques and data collection methods, certain aerodynamic regimes still pose significant challenges. These regimes commonly occur when an aerodynamic body is under extreme flight conditions. Many of these conditions occur simultaneously in the rare and poorly understood case of a tumbling aerodynamic body. This study explored the implementation of the Barbosa Model—an instructional design framework developed to support faculty in creating effective, engaging, and well-aligned online courses. Intestinal malrotation is a rare condition in which the intestines rotate improperly during embryonic development. Intestinal malrotation is typically diagnosed in pediatric patients with an upper gastrointestinal imaging (UGI) series. Longer time to diagnosis of intestinal malrotation increases the risk of mortality and severe morbidity. While the need for timely diagnosis is well-established in the literature, the correlates of time to diagnosis are largely unknown. Problem Statement: Despite the availability of quantitative train of four (TOF) monitoring, anesthesia providers more frequently rely on tactile (qualitative) TOF monitoring, which is associated with underestimation of recovery from muscle relaxation. Inadequate recovery from muscle relaxants results in residual weakness and its associated complications in the postoperative period, including compromised respiratory function (Thilen et al., 2023).

Studies of interpretation bias related to pain have consistently shown that patients with pain are more likely to interpret ambiguous stimuli as related to pain than healthy control participants. This phenomenon is associated with pain and related outcomes, including depression, anxiety, and avoidance behaviors, suggesting a potential target in pain management. This study aimed to examine whether the association between interpretation bias, pain, and emotional status can be replicated in a dental care population.
