LDS discourse commonly uses the term mysteries to refer to truths that we don’t know or shouldn’t worry about. But the scriptures—and particularly the Book of Mormon—speak of the mysteries very positively, as something we should seek to know. The scriptural terminology appears to refer to the things of God that the faithful come to know—things that nonbelievers never understand.

Search For A Coupling Scheme In Heavy Deformed Nuclei: The Pseudo Su(3) Model, R. D.Ratna Raju, J. P. Draayer, K. T. Hecht

To test the possible usefulness of the pseudo SU(3) coupling scheme a few nuclear properties are examined which can be expected to be governed largely by the (1g 7 22d 3 22d 3 23s 1 2) part of the proton configuration for odd-Z nuclei and the (1h 9 22f 7 22f 5 23p 3 23p 1 2) part of the neutron configuration for odd-N nuclei. The equivalence between these configurations and pseudo oscillator shells (f̃ 7 2f̃ 5 2p̃ 3 2p̃ 1 2) and (g̃ 9 2g̃ natural-parity rotational bands in deformed nuclei can be described approximately by many-particle states …

Utterances of two adults males were analyzed and synthesized by a fast Fourier Transforms method. Each of the two voices was synthesized in each of the twenty‐seven combinations of three levels each of rate, mean FØ, and variance of FØ (a total of fifty‐four “voices” generated from two). The effects of the rate, mean FØ, and variance of FØ manipulations, the interactive effects of rate and variance of FØ, and the effects due to speaker were all statistically significant predictors of personality ratings given the voices. There is little unanimity of viewpoint concerning the complex and controversial subject of real estate settlement costs. The diverse interests and pressure groups seem to agree, however, that the public land title records of most jurisdictions are disarrayed, complicated, and inefficiently organized. This observation has been made with such frequency and conviction that it appears beyond dispute, and it will not be contested here.

Ultimobranchial Thyroid Neoplasms In Bulls. A Syndrome Resembling Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma In Man, Hugh E. Black, Charles C. Capen, David M. Young

A syndrome of ultimobranchial thyroid neoplasms which shares many similarities with medullary thyroid carcinoma in man occurs frequently in populations of adult bulls. The results of this investigation demonstrated that ultimobranchial neoplasms were composed of poorly differentiated parafollicular (C—) cells with extensive aggregations of microfilaments, clusters of ribosomes, and prominent Golgi apparatuses. Secretion granules often were interspersed between microfilaments. Other more columnar neoplastic cells assumed a ductal pattern. The prominent stroma contained amyloid fibrils and collagen fibers. By comparison, cells comprising medullary thyroid carcinoma were more differentiated parafollicular cells with well developed cytoplasmic organelles and numerous membrane‐limited secretion granules. A general yet simple and hence practical algorithm for calculating SU 3 ⊃ SU2 × U1 Wigner coefficients is formulated. The resolution of the outer multiplicity follows the prescription given by Biedenharn and Louck. It is shown that SU3 Racah coefficients can be obtained as a solution to a set of simultaneous equations with unknown coefficients given as a by-product of the initial steps in the SU3 ⊃ SU2 × U1 Wigner coefficient construction algorithm. This paper studies the differential equation ( ∂ ∂t) u(t, x) = 1 2trace A(t, x) D2u(t, x) A*(t, x) + 〈σ(t, x), Du(t, x)〉 - V(x) u(t, x), u(0, x) = φ(x) in infinite dimensional space. A Kac's type representation of solution in terms of function space integral is proved. Kac's method is modified to work nicely regardless of the dimensionality. © 1973.

Electrochemical Reduction Of Molybdenum(Vi) Compounds In Molten Lithium Chloride-Potassium Chloride Eutectic, Branko N. Popov, H. A. Laitinen

Molybdenum (VI) oxide reacts with molten LiCl-KCl eutectic at 450° to form MoO2CI2, which probably is present as an anion MoO2Cl4=, and pyromolybdate, Mo2O7=. Both of these species are electrochemically reduced to MoO2, which can be reoxidized to MoO2Cl2 by current reversal. A second reduction step, observed whether MoO3 or Mo2O72− is added to the melt, can be attributed to the reduction of MoO4−−, formed as a secondary reaction product in the first …
