How To Salvage Tax Benefits When A Professional Corporation Disbands, John W. Lee Jan 1976

How To Salvage Tax Benefits When A Professional Corporation Disbands, John W. Lee

Faculty Publications

One of the main concerns of a shareholder in a professional corporation that is dissolving is to protect his interest in the corporation's qualified deferred compensation plan. By use of a case study, Mr. Lee analyzes several methods available for a shareholder to preserve his interest. He also presents a possible solution to other problems arising in connection with the professional corporation's dissolution, such as splitting up the practice (and its accounts receivable) and the status of liquidating distributions if the professionals reincorporate separately.

Studies Of Handicapped Students: Volume 1: Whom Do Teachers Identify As Handicapped, Patricia Craig, Norman Mceachron

Faculty Publications

This volume reports the first of two studies conducted by the Educational Policy Research Center (EPRC) of SRI for the Assistant Secretary for Education (ASE) on the handicapped school population. The volume presents data on patterns of socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of teacher-identified handicapped students. The purpose of the analysis was to determine whether significant differences in rates of identification of handicapping conditions are associated with family income, race, population size of place of residence, or geographic location. This study briefly reviews past studies; explores a new set of data to determine its usefulness in determining characteristics of the teacher-identified …

E2 Polynomial Strengths: A Comparison With Shell-Model Results, J. P. Draayer, J. B. French, V. Potbhare, S. S.M. Wong

Faculty Publications

Polynomial-expansion E2 strengths and sum rules involving (J,T)=(0, 0) and (2, 0) states of (ds)6 are compared with shell-model results. The agreement is excellent. The strength distribution is describable as a narrow linear ridge in the energy space. The level-to-level fluctuations in the total strength are small, as expected from a theorem of Dyson and Mehta; fluctuations in the first and second moments are also small. The effect of collectivity and the partitioning of the sum rules into exothermic and endothermic parts are discussed. © 1975.

Polynomial Expansions For Excitation Strengths, J. P. Draayer, J. B. French, V. Potbhare, S. S.M. Wong

Faculty Publications

Rapidly convergent expansions for the strength function of an excitation in a many-particle model space are given in terms of orthogonal polynomials defined by the state or partial state densities of the system. Convergence is assured in a wide range of circumstances by the operation of a central limit theorem. Level-to-level fluctuations are in many cases small, their automatic elimination in the statistical smoothing generated by truncating the series then leading to only small errors. © 1975.

The Development And Analysis Of Base Line Data For The Estimation Of Incidence In The Handicapped School Age Population, Patricia Craig, Norman Mceachron Jan 1975

The Development And Analysis Of Base Line Data For The Estimation Of Incidence In The Handicapped School Age Population, Patricia Craig, Norman Mceachron

Faculty Publications

The purpose of this study was, first, to examine and critique the more popular incidence sources for handicapping conditions in the school age population, and second, to establish reasonably reliable base line data on which the future analysis of special population groups can be grounded. On the basis of this study, we suggest that the National Center of Health Statistics estimates become the primary source for further analysis due to both their reliability and comparability. It is questionable whether these figures could be refined further by conducting an independent national survey of school children. Data reliability is important, since even …

The New Due Process: Rights And Remedies, Doug R. Rendleman

Faculty Publications

This article discusses the "new" due process. Perhaps new is a misnomer. Due process was not discovered recently. It has been around a long time protecting varying interests from arbitrary action. The discovery called the "new" due process is merely that procedural protections are not so limited as previously thought. This article will examine the interests encompassed by the new due process and the remedial apparatus now being developed to protect those interests.
