Studies have shown the potential risks of neurodegeneration associated with chronic consumption of plants of the Annonaceae family, which emphasize the need for further studies to identify the neurotoxic compounds in the edible annonaceous plants and compare their risk to their benefits in defeating cancer. Fabrication Of Taste Masked Tablets Via Fused Deposition Modeling 3d Printing Paired With Hot-Melt Extrusion Techniques, Honghe Wang

The objective of this work was to develop taste-masked donut-shaped tablet formulations utilizing fused deposition modeling three-dimensional (3D) printing paired with hot-melt extrusion (HME) techniques. Caffeine citrate (CC) was used as the model drug for its bitter taste, and a three-point bend test was performed to assess the printability of filaments. The stiffness constant was calculated to represent the printability by fitting the breaking distances and stress data into Hooke's law. Formulation F6 and F7 filaments exhibited the desired hardness with a “k” value of 48.30 ± 3.52 g/mm3 and 45.47 ± 3.51 g/mm3, respectively, and were successfully printed. The …

The aim of the current study was to prepare and compare acyclovir (ACV) floating gastro-retentive formulations synthesized via hot-melt extrusion (HME) techniques using P-CO2 and sodium bicarbonate. Physical mixtures of ACV (20%, w/w) and HPC EF (70%, 60%, w/w) with HPC MF (10%, w/w) or HPMCAS-LG (10%, w/w) were prepared using a co-rotating twin-screw extruder with a screw configuration shoin Figure 2. In L2 phonological acquisition, the difference in phonotactics between two languages might result in misperception and non-target like pronunciation (Dupoux et al., 1999; Nogita & Fan, 2012). If a language does not allow consonant clusters (CC), the language speaker may perceive an illusory vowel between the two consonants in the cluster (e.g., Japanese, Dupoux et al., 1999) and also they may insert a vowel between two consonants (i.e., vowel epenthesis). Cellulose nanocrystals and their interactions with different surfactants in high ionic strength brine were studied to produce stable liquid-liquid interface (emulsions) and gas-liquid (foams) for potential application in underground CO2 storage, enhanced oil recovery, and biodegradation of crude oil at marine oil-spill sites. Every year the number of certified teachers entering the teacher workforce is declining across the nation. This decline affects districts across the country, but it especially affects the students that these districts serve. While there is a decline in teachers overall, there is a severe decline in African American teachers. Non- Caucasian students are the largest demographic of students that attend public schools (Cherng & Halpin, 2016). The purpose of this investigation was to observe the relationship between total calorie and macronutrient intake on return to baseline measurement times in concussions collegiate athletes. Forty division I collegiate athletes (19.83 + 1.01 years) were randomly assigned to a control group (n = 22) or intervention group (n = 18) once diagnosed with a concussion. Macronutrient intake and daily caloric intake were analyzed using the Nutrition Data System for Research. Concussion related symptoms were assessed using the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool. This thesis aims to investigate English-language learners’ foreign language anxiety and their motivations to learn English in an American context. The adapted versions of The Motivation/Attitude Questionnaire (Ozturk 2012), and Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (Horwitz et al 1986) were given to 34 Intensive English Program students at a college in Southeastern United States. The participants in the Advanced and Advanced Plus Level have shown moderate level of Foreign Language Anxiety and Motivation. Recent studies suggest that difficulties in emotion regulation (ER) or emotion dysregulation (ED) mediate the association between trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) in adults and adolescents. However, elucidating how the specific facets of emotion dysregulation may differentially mediate the development of PTSS following trauma in adolescents could benefit the formation of more targeted interventions for PTSS in traumatized youth. Evangelical Christianity occupies a dominant position in American culture and politics. This thesis extends previous research on evangelicalism in America by identifying how evangelicals collectively construct their distinction and uniqueness in small group settings. By conducting an ethnography of bible study meetings organized by an evangelical church in North Mississippi, Mercy Church, I examine how church participants collectively differentiate themselves from the rest of the world. Rather than imagining themselves at odds with a single, monolithic Other, this study shows that evangelical identity is formed and crystallized through small battles with numerous outsiders, both Christian and non-Christian. Modeling and simulation of a metallic flyer plate impacting a woven glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) plate at different velocities was performed using the ALE3D© finite element code. The one-dimensional strain-based shock wave propagation experimental data in terms of time history of GRP’s back surface material particle velocity, available in open literature [1], were utilized in the calibration of a continuum damage mechanics (CDM) model. The experimental data included D7 Tool Steel and 7075-T6 aluminum flyer plates and two different GRP thicknesses (6.8 mm or 13.6 mm) with varying impact velocities in the range of about 8.5 m/s to 418 m/s. …

A number of emotions have been identified as contributing to the experience of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), including fear and disgust. Given the high rates of comorbidity between PTSD and OCD, research has suggested that disgust may be a likely link between these disorders. The current study examined the relation between contamination disgust, trauma symptom severity, and contamination related-OCD (C-OCD) symptoms in a sample of sexual and non-sexual trauma survivors (N = 206). Specifically, it was proposed that sexual trauma survivors would endorse more severe PTSD symptoms, higher levels of disgust, and more C-OCD symptoms. …

Underachieving Profoundly Gifted Adolescents is a phenomenological study that explores the lived experiences of five underachieving profoundly gifted adolescents. Profoundly gifted individuals are those whose IQ scores are at the 99.9th percentile. This study was a means to explore factors that contribute to underachievement among this subpopulation of gifted students. In-depth interviews with young adults provided insight into the personal experiences of underachievement in profoundly gifted adolescents. Parents also took part in interviews to provide an additional perspective on the underachievement experience. Findings indicated five themes that contribute to underachievement among this population. This exploratory study determined the legitimacy of the leadership gap in Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs) in South Dakota by collecting quantitative and qualitative data and then comparing the results with national studies. It aimed to understand if NPOs were more vulnerable to leadership transitions and the costs associated with them. It also provided additional insight for future research opportunities. While there were studies on larger NPOs, such as the United Way, or NPOs in more highly populated regions, there was a gap in research for rural NPOs that potentially would not be financially able to research these trends on their own. …
