A Study Of The Farm Shop Curriculum, Robert B. Fall
A Study Of The Farm Shop Curriculum, Robert B. Fall
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The building of a course to teach the principles underlying mechanical operations on farms has been and still is under criticism, and probably will continue to be for some time to come; but it is such an important brench, or part, of farming that was thought that any contribution which could be made to assist in a better understanding of the problem would be worth while, hence this study.

A Traffic Survey Of The City Of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, George Everett Thompson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
How to control the traffic on the streets of our cities is becoming one of the most important problems of the present day. an urban community depends for its existence upon the transportation facilities both internal and external. The external transportation is necessary for a city's growth because food supplies and raw materials must be brought into the city and the commodities which are produced in the cities must be distributed to other places.

Abortive Stamens And Carpels In Lychnis Alba, Gus B. Ulvin
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Botanists have long been interested in the manner of "sex expression" in plants. Some plant shave perfect flowers, that is, both sexes are expressed in a single flower, with no variation from this condition within the species. Other plants have flowers in which only one or the other sex is expressed, while still other plants occur in which "pure staminate or pure carpellate and all intermediate degrees" occur.

A Thesis On The Constitutional History Of The American Negro From 1776 To 1875, Clothilde Labat
A Thesis On The Constitutional History Of The American Negro From 1776 To 1875, Clothilde Labat
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This thesis, submitted to Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1930, traces the constitutional and legal history of the American Negro from 1776 to 1875, examining the legislative record underlying the eventual adoption of the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments. Labat argues that this body of law developed gradually from colonial-era statutes and custom rather than from any founding constitutional mandate, and that the Federal Constitution itself contained no explicit provision for slavery.
The thesis surveys legislation across the pre-constitutional, pre-Civil War, Civil War, and post-Civil War eras, beginning with colonial statutes …

The Platonic Lover Of Elizabethan Poetry., Dorcas Douglass Ray
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Just what is the meaning of Platonic love? It is a term that has caught the attention of scholars, poets, and plain men, in many countries and during many centuries. Perhaps its wide appeal accounts for the varied and tortuous shapes its meaning has assumed as it has passed through the inquisitive and often callous fingers of the multitudes. It is a term applied popularly today to a kind of abstract, passionless friendship, which, to the practical-minded American, can exist only in theory. Few who use the term Platonic love or Platonic friendship have paused first to read the pages …

The Autobiographical Elements In Francis Thompson's Hound Of Heaven And St. Augustine's Confessions, Agnes Blanchard
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In this thesis I have undertaken to compare the autobiographies of men whose lives were unlike in many respects but alike in this, that though they sought definitely to flee away from God, the heart hunger in their beings allowed them to rest until they returned to His loving embrace. In Francis Thompson's Hound of Heaven and in St. Augustine's Confessions, I shall attempt to find two men who found God after treading devious paths away from Him

Mathematics: Just what does the word mean to us? After a moment of thought many different meanings may present themselves to our minds. At first we are inclined to say that the word mathematics covers a vast field. We are justified in so thinking because mathematics embraces a wide scope of study. Were we to say that it is a science we should place it in its proper genius, for it is truly a science of numbers and space. However, could not the science be the art of calculation or the art of computation?

The History of Literature is replete with the autobiographies of men and women, who for some reason or other have thought it worth their while to give the written record of their lives to the world. As one glances through the pages of these histories of lives, one marvels at the multiplicity of ambitions that have inspired their authors.

The Fate Of Water Lost From The Blood In Cocaine Fever And The Relation Of This Water To The Febrile Process., Hubert T. Marshall
The Fate Of Water Lost From The Blood In Cocaine Fever And The Relation Of This Water To The Febrile Process., Hubert T. Marshall
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This investigation was carried out in an attempt to determine the nature of some of the physiological changes, particularly the shift in the water balance during the rise in temperature following pyretic doses of cocaine. It is well known that cocaine in sufficiently large doses produces an almost immediate and rapid rise in body temperature associated with increased metabolism and motor activity. Reichert (1). The increased motor activity becomes evident soon after the injection of the cocaine. Extreme restlessness, muscle twitching and tremor progressing into clonic convulsions may be observed. Barbour and Moise (2) have shown in dogs given pyretic …
Machiavelli And Shakespeare., Edith M. Stark
Machiavelli And Shakespeare., Edith M. Stark
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A brief introduction to Nicola Machiavelli is necessary for a better understanding of the influence he exerted upon English thought. He was a descendant of old Florentine nobility and lived from 1469 to 1527. Little is known of his early years and education, but it is evident from his works that he read widely in the Latin and Italian classics, particularly the Roman histories, and that he was a student of men and things. His first entrance into public service was made in 1494. He was made clerk of the second chancery and four years later was appointed second chancellor …
