It can be said from observations that plants become more woody as they mature. A young plant is relatively tender and supple, whereas an older plant is tougher and has greater strength structure. The nature of this woodiness and its effect upon the digestibility of plants and plant products by animals is of some concern.

The purpose of this study is to investigate and report the results of the Iowa Every-Pupil Test, particularly the test on Correctness in Writing, as they apply to the Brookings, S. Dak. high school. The Correctness in Writing Test has been chosen for particular analysis because it is in this portion of the battery of tests that the student body investigated seemed to do the most poorly.

Trends in land use and crop production on reclamation projects are of considerable interest as new developments are planned. Twelve of the projects in the Northern Great Plains states were included in this study. They are: Belle Fourche Project in South Dakota; Bitter Root, Buffalo Rapids, Frenchtown, Huntley, Milk River, and Sun River Projects in Montana; Lower Yellowstone Project in Montana and North Dakota; Riverton and Shoshone Projects in Wyoming; North Platte Project in Wyoming and Nebraska; and the Uncompahgre Project in Colorado.

More land in the United States is used for grazing and hay production than for all other farm crops grown. Well-managed pastures and rangeland have always been recognized as an economical source of feed and recently have commanded much attention as an effective means of conserving soil resources and preventing erosion. In the states if North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, about 67 per cent of the total land in farms and ranches is in pasture and hay. Miss Keller recognizes the blind man's capacity for training. She feels that it is the duty of the public to assist the visually handicapped in developing their abilities to the fullest extent. Recreation is one phase of this development. If the residential schools for the blind and the public are given the information to assist in this development and if they take an active part in helping the blind, the blind will have a better chance to live normal, well-adjusted lives in our complex society.

A great amount of variation in the carcasses from butcher hogs proximal to two hundred and twenty pounds from different lines and breeds has become apparent in recent years. The average hog producer prefers the type of hog that gains quickly and economically and will net the most profit. The average consumer, however, prefers the type of carcass that has a high percentage of lean to fat. Today the dollar value of market hogs is determined more by the amount of finish they are carrying than by the quality of carcass. Since variations do exist in the carcasses from different …
