The Agronomy Department of South Dakota State College has developed and released several new varieties of crops in the last few years. Two of these, Feebar barley released in 1947 and Norghum sorghum released in 1949, are being grown rather extensively by grain and livestock produces in South Dakota. As a result , numerous inquiries have been received by the Animal Husbandry Department concerning the relative feed volume of these two crops. Because of this desired information , it seemed necessary to compare Feebar barley and Norghum sorghum with a standard yellow corn ration for growing and fattening pigs. Norghum, …

The purpose of this study is to show the financial condition of the Colman Independent School, the change in the elementary and high-school enrollments, and the costs per pupil over the ten-year period, 1940 to 1949. As educational theory and practice have attempted to adjust themselves to, and keep abreast of a rapidly changing social order, the scope of education, as measured by the number of children and the cost of educating them, has increased and the school has assumed a different role in the training of youth than it formerly did. Many people have adopted peculiar ideas as to the attitudes and opinions of veterans who are attending colleges under the government program, which is commonly called the G.I. Bill. This report of a veterans study which was carried on during the registration for spring quarter of the 1947-1948 school year at South Dakota State College located at Brookings, South Dakota. It is hoped that these findings may be of some value in straightening out those individuals, giving them a clearer picture of the attitudes and opinions of veterans, and especially of those attending South Dakota State College.

Previous to 1940, sodium chlorate, certain boron compounds, and arsenic compounds were established as soil sterilants. Immediately prior to this time, the use of sulphuric acid and substituted phenols had attracted some attention and favor as selective herbicide. When 2, 4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) becomes available as an herbicide its spectacular efficiency not only facilitated its wide acceptance but also aroused a new and greater interests in chemical weed control. Strawberries are one of the few raw fruit crops that can be produced commercially in the North Great plains area. The severe climatic conditions of this region limit the survival and productivity of most marketable fruits and some bush fruits. The strawberry, by virtue of its prostrate growth habit and inherent hardiness, can be protected by mulching, a practice not applicable with equal success to other fruit plants. It is important in dairy cattle management to maintain steady and continuous growth of heifers and thereby secure properly developed cows which will give the production that is expected of them when they are brought into the milking herd. In general, heifer calves during the first twelve months of their growing period are carefully managed as to feed, housing and care to promote normal growth. When two circuits are so placed that energy may be transferred from one to the other they are said to be coupled. If the coupling is obtained by a circuit element (resistor, capacitor or coil) common to both circuits the coupling is direct. If the circuits are linked only by a magnetic field the coupling is called inductive. This paper will concern itself only with inductively coupled circuits.
