As a child progresses in gaining an education, there is a greater dependence upon reading skill. Each grade makes increasing demands concerning the type of reading and the amount of reading required. The child with a reading problem finds himself more perplexed and the learning task becomes more perplexed and the learning task becomes more difficult. The problem is significant to teachers and school administrators because the reading program must constantly be improved to provide ways and means of correcting the reading deficiencies of some students and, at the same time, of expanding and enriching the reading curricula for other …

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of physical practice, mental practice, and mental-physical practice upon the learning of selected basic tumbling stunts. The subjects chosen were 21 volunteer women from the required physical education classes at South Dakota State University. The 21 women were placed by a table of random numbers into a physical practice group, a mental practice group, and a mental-physical practice group. The experimental groups were given tumbling instructions by the author three times per week. The first meeting of each group was devoted to instruction and an explanation of the factors relative …

In recent years, mechanized farming has started to apply pneumatic systems to feed handling for livestock. These systems are divided as low-volume high-pressure, low-volume medium-pressure, and high-volume low-pressure. The latter two best fit the requirements for agricultural applications. However, the high-volume low-pressure type lacks adequate research for utilization in feeding systems. It is felt that certain aspects of this system are more advantageous than higher pressure systems, yet a number of disadvantages also exist. The problem of disposal of animal wastes has increased with modern methods of mass producing hogs, poultry, and other livestock and livestock products. With the increase popularity of confinement housing and the purchase of feed, less land is needed to raise more livestock and less land is available for disposal of the manure produced. Several methods for the disposal of hog manure have been suggested by various authors I the fields of agriculture and engineering. Athletic coaches and physical educators have long been interested in developing a physical conditioning program that could be used indoors in a limited area, and that was not time consuming. A physical conditioning program of this nature, involving fitness, would be of great value to athletes and physical educators. Cureton has written that motor fitness is a limited phase of motor ability which emphasizes the capacity for vigorous work or athletic effort. With a definition and these components of motor fitness in mind, the author became interested in the effects of a trampoline condition program on motor fitness. A trampoline …
