There is evidence that the rental industry has now matured to

a point where significant management principles have evolved and with them accounting sophistication both of which are necessary for critical analysis. The purpose of this study was to establish an analytical framework with which investors, creditors, and other interested parties might determine the feasibility of establishing new businesses or expanding old ones, or for use in correcting deficiencies in operating results of existing ones. Limnology Of Three Farm Ponds In South-Central South Dakota, Larry Kim Graham

Physical, chemical, and biological aspects of three farm ponds in south-central South Dakota were studied from June 1964 until December 1965. Maximum water temperature at the surface reached 25.2 C, while water temperatures at the bottom of the ponds were about 2 to 4C lower than the surface. Light transmission was influenced by turbidity but generally penetrated to the bottom of the ponds except during periods of cloudy ice and snow cover. Dissolved oxygen was near saturation during periods of open water. Most chemical ions in the ponds increased annually from a winter minimum to a spring maximum. Total dissolved …

The age, rate of growth, reproduction, feeding habits and population dynamics of the emerald shiner (Notropie atherinoides) were studied from 10, 375 fish collected in Lewis and Clark Lake South Dakota. The population consisted of four age groups dominated by young-of-the-yew during the summer and fall and by age group during spring and early summer. Age group II was common only in the spring and early summer. While age group III was rarely found. Average length at annulus formation was 66 mm for age group I and 84 mm for age group II. Females attained a size advantage over males …

The objectives if the research were threefold: 1. To determine the effect of increased kill and loading on an anaerobic pond system treating meat packing wastes. 2. To determine the effect of recirculation in an anaerobic pond system treating meat packing wastes. 3. To determine the insulating effect of a meat waste grease-scum. The extent of the research was limited to the anaerobic system.

Selenium exhibits unusual biological properties in that it is a micro nutrient for animals (1) and some plants (2) and yet at slightly higher levels it may be very toxic (3,4). Neither the active forms of selenium nor the mechanisms by which its biological effects are produced are well understood. Thus, many aspects remain to the investigated in this area. Franke (9), while working with the affected grain at South Dakota State College, produced the toxic symptoms experimentally. A nucleus may be left in an excited state following a radioactive decay or nuclear bombardment process. However the lifetime of a nucleus in an excited state is usually very short (1) and the nucleus may undergo and electromagnetic transition to a less excited state. The transition from one nuclear state to another of lower energy can proceed by any on the three processes: gamma ray emission; internal conversion; and internal pair creation. The purpose of this work was the isolation, identification and quantitative determination of the water-soluble organic constituents present in the flesh of dried prune (Prunus domestica). This work was prompted by the recent appearance of two Russian papers (12) (32) identifying some of the organic constituents of prunes. Quinic acid was first isolated and identified as a constituents of prunes in 1931. Although the method used for the isolation was not quantitate, it was indicated that prunes contained about 1% quinic acid on the fresh basis (15).
