A weekly newspaper needs to measure its value to the community it services. It needs to know how highly it is valued in general and how highly it is valued in certain areas. To discover the value of The Sioux Valley News to its readers the Bush Brinton and Newell test was used to measure the public's attitude toward the newspaper. The test was used by the researcher to determine how the newspaper was valued on the particular dimensions it encompasses. Wheat streak mosaic is a widespread and important disease of wheat, Triticum aestivum (L.), in the United States and Canada. Evidence of its presence in Rumania and Jordan has been reported. A disease of wheat in the USSR may also be caused by wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV). The virus vector is Aceria tuljpae ( K.) , an eriophyid mite, commonly referred to as the wheat curl mite. Slykhuis reported that wheat was the favored host of the wheat curl mite. Orlob also reported that corn seedlings, Zea mays (L.), were favorable hosts for the mites. Nault et, added that …

Current meat consumption patterns and competition from other meats and meat substitutes present a challenge to today’s pork producer to produce a higher quality product with a larger lean to fat ratio. One avenue or approach toward meeting the challenge could be through selection of superior breeding animals. Thus the major challenge at the producer level is that of accurately determining the meatiest individuals for replacements. Historically man has relied upon the visual appraisal, however, few of the live animal. Therefore, the majority must depend upon selection aids. As a result of the Federal Water Quality Act of 1965 all states of the union were required to develop water quality standards for the interstate waters within their boundaries and after holding public hearings, adopt such standards prior to June 30, 1967 (1- 1) . The wheat stem maggot, Meromyza americana Fitch, is distributed throughout most of the wheat growing areas of North America. Significant crop losses from this insect have been reported in wheat, rye, barley, and other grasses. Several investigators have studied the wheat stem maggot's life history and listed its parasites, but no attempts have been made to evaluate the importance of the various parasites. The objective of this study was to investigate some of the factors that might influence the rate of parasitism and to learn the importance of individual parasite species. The duration and intensity of action of many drugs are largely determined by the speed at which they are metabolized in the body by enzymes in liver microsomes (1). Previous studies have shown that the activities of drug metabolizing enzymes in liver microsomes are markedly increased when animals are given various drugs, hormones, insecticides, and carcinogens. This increase in activity appears to represent an increased concentration of enzyme protein and is referred to as enzyme induction. Induction of liver microsomal enzymes leads to an accelerated biotransformation of drugs in vivo. This results in an· altered duration and intensity of drug …

The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of weight training upon leg strength, reaction and performance times of football players engaged in an off-season training program. Twenty-two varsity football players at South Dakota State University volunteered as subjects and were· placed in two groups equated by their ability to perform a specific agility movement. Random designation procedures were used to designate the groups. The subjects in the control and experimental groups participated in an eight-week weight training program and, in addition, the experimental group was employed in an explosive running program.
