Higher Education In Rural America : A Study Of Northern Plains American Indian And Non-Indian Attitudes, Aspirations, Expectations, And Perceived Barriers, Marta Albertus Brosz Mohr

This study addresses the need for educational research specific to rural populations of American Indians and their non-Indian neighbors. In order to provide answers to both theoretical and practical questions, a survey was conducted with a random sample of rural residents living within a twenty-five mile radius of a rural, tribal institution of higher education. The structured interviews gathered data regarding attitudes, aspirations, expectations, and perceived barriers. Analyses of the data indicate that this population has strong, positive attitudes toward higher education and aspires to a college education in spite of real and perceived barriers. The authorial reputation of Mari Sandoz has long rested in the shadow of other writers of her era. First of all, Sandoz wrote from and about a relatively remote region of the United States. In addition, she firmly refused to produce popular works at the expense of sacrificing the truth she perceived and wished to express. Consequently, Sandoz has often been classified as a regional writer and her works have been overlooked by many readers and critics. The study of American legal institutions and practices provides valuable information regarding American society. This analysis focuses on the County Court of Lafayette County, Mississippi from its creation in 1865 until its dissolution in 1870. In order to assess the role of this court during Reconstruction, the types of cases and participants for the five-year period were analyzed.
The County Court system was established by the Mississippi state legislature in 1865 to manage the anticipated surge of criminal activity caused by the Civil War and the emancipation of slaves. This research discovered that although there was a considerable amount of …

The purpose of this study is to provide a general data base for future studies of and planning for studies of the region. It will also provide the people of South Dakota with information needed to derive a better understanding of the geography of South Dakota. The Department of Geography at South Dakota State University has adopted as a major goal of its graduate program the completion of a series of master’s theses on the geography of South Dakota. Our studies entail the use of a model system, the 2-substituted-5-chloromethyl-5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan whose chemistry has been outlined in a number of publications. A phosphorian ring system is found in cyclic AMP and is the central structural feature of cyclophosphamides, which are anticancer drugs. The goal of our research project is to study the effect of metal ions in methanolysis of phosphorus (V) substrates. We have attempted to answer which metal ions are effective as catalysts and their relative efficiency. In the study of these problems, we are examining catalytic specificity of the displacement of specific ligands. The stereochemistry of the reaction, …
