Kentucky's 1935 Gubernatorial Election., Olivia M. Frederick
Kentucky's 1935 Gubernatorial Election., Olivia M. Frederick
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This thesis deals with the events and issues which were connected with the 1935 gubernatorial election. There is first a brief sketch of Kentucky politics prior to the 1935 election. Particular interest is given to the history of the Democratic party and the split which occurred in it at the turn of the century. A great deal of attention is given to the factional struggles which occurred in the period between 1931 and 1935. The controversy and drive for a primary law is discussed in detail. Because of the nature of the primary law enacted in 1935 two primary elections …
The Velocity Of The Baseball Batting Swing As Affected By The Addition Of A Select Resistance Exercise Of A Traditional Pre-Season Weight Training Program, Harold George Wertich
The Velocity Of The Baseball Batting Swing As Affected By The Addition Of A Select Resistance Exercise Of A Traditional Pre-Season Weight Training Program, Harold George Wertich
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of two types of resistance-training programs on the velocity of the baseball batting swing. A sub-problem of the study was to determine the effect on the velocity of the batting swing of using a weighted bat immediately prior to batting. The following procedure was employed: thirty freshman baseball candidates at the South Dakota State University were selected as subjects and were placed in two groups equated by the measure of the velocity of the baseball batting swing. The subjects in the two experimental groups (Traditional Weight Training Group and Resistance …
Web Buckling Of Delta Girders, Franklin P. Wang
Web Buckling Of Delta Girders, Franklin P. Wang
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In reviewing the papers in the literature concerning delta girder bridges, 1,2,3, it is frequently found that investigations were not carried far enough to be useful for actual design in engineering offices. This is attributed mainly to one or both of the following reasons: 1. The successful outcome of test results were not based on a sound theoretical analysis of the behavior of the delta girder. 2. The investigations did not give detailed theoretical and experimental studies to obtain the optimum size and geometry of the delta girder. The delta girder consists of the same basic cross section as the …
A Survey Of School Districts In Boyd County, Nebraska, 1965-1966, Robert Stuerman
A Survey Of School Districts In Boyd County, Nebraska, 1965-1966, Robert Stuerman
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Today, due to the ever-increasing educational requirements laid down by states and the increasing costs of education, many of the smaller districts have either been forced to close down or are lacking in one or more of the state requirements and are on the verge of losing their accreditation and ultimately their school. Dennis M. David made a survey of 135 citizens in five mid-western states and showed that only one-fourth of the people were aware that the purpose of reorganization of school districts is to provide better education. It has been shown through surveys of Nebraska County high school …
Experimental Analysis Of Free Convection Heat Transfer From A Nonisothermal Plate, Lloyd Edwin Stoebner
Experimental Analysis Of Free Convection Heat Transfer From A Nonisothermal Plate, Lloyd Edwin Stoebner
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Heat transfer by convection has been studied extensively since about 1900, but it is probably still the least understood of the three types of heat transfer due to its dependency on fluid dynamics. The most thoroughly studied cases are forced convection over a flat plate and free convection from a vertical isothermal plate. In a large number of engineering applications, it is necessary to calculate the heat transfer from a surface which is heated locally such as a fin heated at its root. There has been very little analytical or experimental work done for this particular case in which the …

The Effect Of An Interval Running Program On Circulorespiratory Efficiency, Body Adipose Tissue, And Body Weight Of College Freshman Women, Nona Marie Stamp
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effects of an interval running program on circulorespiratory efficiency, body adipose tissue, and body weight of college freshman women. Thirty students were selected randomly from volunteers from all of the freshmen women enrolled in the required freshman physical education program at South Dakota State University, equated by an oxygen consumption test, and placed in an experimental or control group. The experimental group participated in an interval running program over a six-week period. The workload consisted of running bouts on a graded treadmill with at specific interval rest period. The bouts increased …
Mist Irrigation For The Improvement Of The Climate For Cool Season Crops, Jerry Lee Spears
Mist Irrigation For The Improvement Of The Climate For Cool Season Crops, Jerry Lee Spears
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The application of mist to cauliflower and lettuce plants improved the quality of cauliflower heads. The mean temperature reduction in the mist plots was 4.8° F. Positive correlation of .76 was obtained between outside temperature and temperature under mist. By comparison of sample means of paired observations, differences were found to be significant at one percent level. The mist system was 2.5 feet above soil level. The lines were 120 feet long. The 3 lines on the west side of the plot were placed 3 feet apart. The next 7 lines were placed 6 feet apart. The last two lines …
A Study Of The Equalization Formula Of South Dakota's Minimum Foundation Program, Arthur K. Shaver
A Study Of The Equalization Formula Of South Dakota's Minimum Foundation Program, Arthur K. Shaver
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In 1963, the South Dakota State Legislature passed a supplemental portion to the minimum foundation law. This section of the law1 provides support to school districts on a formula of equalization base on an individual school district’s need and effort. The law limits the amount of equalization support distribution to $2,000,000. In 1963, when the law was passed, foundation payment computations were not available on every district. Information necessary to evaluate the foundation program became available to educators and legislators in 1964 when payment were computed to districts for the first time. Problems in the mechanics of the formula became …
