An Analysis Of Current Printing Programs At Southern Negro Universities And Colleges Granting The Bachelor Of Science Degree, By Ford Ratcliff

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Constant evaluation is necessary to determine whether or not an education curriculum is serving the purpose for which it was designed. Curriculum construction is the result of the efforts of one man or a staff of men, usually based upon his or their experience in the field. Because of this fact, the resulting curriculum may be inadequate for the total development of the student in the area of his education. Little, if any, study has been made of Negro universities and colleges with reference to general curricula for printing programs found in such institutions. It is the purpose of this …

This study will deal primarily with one facet of the three means of selection, that is, the college academic record. This study will attempt to show the relationship, or lack of, between …

Its values were considered to be in the form of increased ability with which a student might perform this art of writing after practicing on the newspaper. One opinion was that the value of learning to write …

A Regional Comparison Of Printing Management Salaries In The United States, Richard George Loken Jan 1963

A Regional Comparison Of Printing Management Salaries In The United States, Richard George Loken

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Salary and wage data of personnel in the printing industry are interesting topics and are of primary importance to anyone already employee din the industry or those preparing for employment in the field. The amount of money earned by others in like positions in the industry makes available comparisons and provides employers with information on which to reassess their salary schedules and wage rates. The primary reason for undertaking such a study was the lack of up-to-date management salary and economic information in the commercial printing field. Secondarily, the author’s interest in comparative regional living patterns led to this research. …

Development Of A Statistical Method Of Determining "Bleed" For Offset Reproduction, Guang Shyon Liou

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Magazine covers, labels, packages, or advertising printed matter often have authentic colored design printed to attract people’s attention. In order to obtain the effects of color harmonies and color contrasts, a designed frequently places one color next to another color, with two colored areas sharing a common border. This common border can sometimes have a white gap which is undesirable. To deal with this, printers purposely extend the printing areas so an overlap zone is created. This is called “bleed”. This thesis is an attempt to determine a logical method of arriving at the least amount of bleed required to …

An Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Selected Roller Settings On The Ink Transfer Capabilities Of A Polyurethane Roller, Christian Christian Hein Jan 1963

An Experimental Study Of The Effects Of Selected Roller Settings On The Ink Transfer Capabilities Of A Polyurethane Roller, Christian Christian Hein

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The basic mechanics of the printing operation are the controlled transferring of ink to paper. It seems obvious, therefore, that performing this operation at peak efficiency is essential to competitive success. In letterpress printing this basic mechanical operation takes place in three steps: one, breaking the ink down into a thin, even film, two, depositing the ink film on the raised surface from which the print is to be made; and three, transferring the ink from the raised surface to the paper or substance being printed upon. Deficiencies in any of these three critical areas may result in a product …

The use of hydrotherapy as a relief against such common minor discomforts as muscle stiffness or muscle soreness has long been advocated by athletic trainers and physical therapists. It is known to have gotten its start as early as World War I in France where it was used as a therapeutic agent for war casualties suffering from gunshot wounds. In athletic training, a question which very often arises is whether or not the whirlpool method of therapy should be used on an individual within a few hours prior to participation in physical activities requiring muscular strength, endurance and quick muscular …
