Mental illness is three to four times as prevalent among individuals with intellectual disabilities compared to those without intellectual disabilities (Munir, 2016). There is a body of research supporting the efficacy of mental health counseling to decrease symptoms and behaviors in individuals with intellectual disabilities, but scarce research exists which describes the experiences of these individuals. This study aimed to compared the differences in jaw position measurements in protrusive and open/close positions on a static virtual patient created using 3dMD System to those from a dynamic articulation of a virtual patient (MODJAW) as well as measurements between the Cadiax and MODJAW. Six fiducial surface markers were placed on a volunteer subject’s face and dynamic facial scans of protrusive and open/close jaw movement acquired and exported. A CBCT scan was also acquired. Methods: This mixed methods feasibility study investigated the effects of an interactive cardiovascular dynamics simulation program on CICU nurses’ knowledge, clinical reasoning, and clinical judgment. Glioblastoma diagnosis has one of the lowest average life expectancies at only 14 months. Recurrent tumor formation and progression despite aggressive chemotherapy and radiation significantly contributes to the poor prognosis. Recurrence is likely due to mesenchymal cells breaking off from the primary tumor, infiltrating the parenchyma to establish secondary tumors. Mesenchymal cells initially undergo an epithelial to mesenchymal transition, characterized by a loss of cell-cell adhesion, increased migration and increased proliferation. Previous literature has suggested an apparent P300 sensitivity to self-relevant stimuli. To further explore this relationship, we asked participants to submit 10 photos, each of a particular category (e.g. footwear, plants), to be used as either targets or distractors in a given condition of an oddball task. Furthermore, we attempted to see whether the effect of self-relevance on the P300 could be induced in a participant by allowing them to study a set of unique photos which would then be used as targets. Recent changes in abortion law created a need to study how these changes may affect the most at risk and sexually active community: launching adults. This study investigated if abortion attitude and political identity predict risky sexual behavior of launching adults, even in the presence of the reliable predictor of sexual attitudes. Forty-one unmarried launching adults (18-25) were recruited through snowballing and convenience sampling. Results revealed that abortion attitude was a significant predictor of risky sexual behavior (F(1,39) = 5.25, p < .05, ß = .462, R² = .119), but not while in the presence of sexual attitudes. The present study researched and investigated the travel narratives of 13 interabled families through qualitative research methods of thematic and contrapuntal analysis. Participants were parents who have at least one dependent with a disability in their family unit. Theories used to guide this study include narrative theory, family systems theory, and relational dialectics theory. Narrative theory laid the groundwork for understanding how stories function to communicate and construct identity. In this dissertation, three studies related to understanding and predicting recharge are presented. First, geospatial techniques were used to identify potential groundwater recharge areas in the High Plains Aquifer. Second, a precipitation generator was developed to produce site specific synthetic precipitation series that depend on daily precipitation occurrences, particularly on the distribution of wet spells for sites to be used in numerical modeling. Third, the unsaturated flow code VS2DI was modified to allow the simulation of chloride accumulation from recharge, and this model was used to evaluate errors in the Chloride-Mass-Balance (CMB) method for estimating recharge due to heterogeneity.

Due to the complexity of the anatomical and physiological barriers in the eye, ocular drug delivery presents significant challenges. The poor solubility of many drugs and short retention times on the ocular surface results in low bioavailability from traditional topical dosage forms. Various types of eye infections, such as bacterial keratitis (BK) and fungal keratitis (FK), can become critical and lead to serious visual disabilities. Therefore, this research study aims to enhance the solubility and corneal permeation of two drugs, Ciprofloxacin (CIP) for BK and the antifungal agent Natamycin (NT) for FK, using nanoemulsion (NE) and cyclodextrin (CD) based technologies.

The complex and beautiful relationship the people in Victorian England had to the bee is one that goes beyond ideas of politics and religion. This thesis will explore this relationship by utilizing print, ephemera, jewelry, and household items, to demonstrate how the representation and symbolism of the bee was recognized and cherished by Victorians. While bees did certainly have an intimate relationship to the areas of politics and religion, one that is acknowledged throughout this work, their connection to grander themes of introspection, industrialism, folklore, morality, and status helps us understand the Victorians on a deeper level.

This phenomenological qualitative study explores the intricate dynamics between attachment styles, the supervisory relationship, and counseling self-efficacy among supervisory dyads in counseling. The findings reveal five themes: supervision is relational, supervision is a therapeutic space, security within supervision bolsters self-efficacy, supervision is a mirror for clinical practice, and the nuanced "both/and" nature of attachment and self-efficacy dynamics. This study addresses a gap in the literature by offering qualitative insights into the interplay of attachment styles, supervisory relationship, and counselor self-efficacy, thus contributing to a deeper understanding of the complexities within supervisory practices in counseling.
